I was wondering which is the preferred method???

I was really only planning on mailing a box with some breakfast/snack type foods my kids like such as granola bars, poptarts panut butter crackers etc.

Then I got the idea of ordering these items through Garden Grocer (or similar Co.) along with case of water (even though I don't think w would drink it all I could arrange to leave it for a fellow Dis'er when we chek out) along with some milk, bread PB&J...

Sure I could pack thedry goods, but I am flying spirit, and have to pay for my bags, so I am trying to be VERY careful on what I pack.

thoughts, ideas, suggestions???

We fly Spirit too so I understand the careful packing ;) Last year we ordered from Garden Grocer and it was great. Our package was there when we arrived it got delivered to our room when it was ready. We will be ordering again this year from them. Good luck :)

We've always shipped a package, but DD needs to be Gluten Free, so it is just easier to buy specific products and ship them. I think shipping might actually be a bit cheaper, especially when you consider you can buy stuff "on sale" locally or use coupons. It does depend on where you are staying however, because the "convention" hotels will charge you a handling fee.

I really think that it depends on how much you need or if there are specific items you require that are not available in the resort stores.

Shipping will have its own costs that add to the price of your non-perishables. Plus there's the hassle of packing it all and taking it to a shipping location.

Garden Grocer has a minimum order of $40 plus a $14 delivery fee. You should also tip the bellhop appropriately for bringing your groceries to your room. Will you have a $40 order> And will buying it from GG save you enough to offset the delivery fee and tip? Or would it be the same price (or cheaper) to just get the same things in the resort gift shop or food court?

For some people, the cost is certainly worth it. If I had a little one who was still in diapers, I wouldn't think twice about shipping diapers, wipes, extra clothes, laundry detergent, etc. But if all I wanted was a dozen bottles of water, a half gallon of milk and a few granola bars, I would probably just get them at the resort.
