Mail in rebates uggggg!!

Comp USA, I submitted one for TiVo for my Mom. Registered online for "expedite" HA! On line tracking says they haven't recieved the mail portion which I mailed on Oct 24th, and says give them 21 days. Call and they say give it 6 weeks!!! We are talking a 150 bucks here! Gosh why do we comsumers fall for this crap

ETA: after checking FAQ's it says:

When will I receive my rebate?
Rebates will be processed within 10-12 weeks of activation of your TiVo® DVR AND receipt of your rebate submission. You can check on the status of your rebate anytime online at www.tivorebates.com. If you have additional questions, please call the TiVo Rebate Center at 888-641-4128.

I do rebates frequently and almost always have zero problems. Some do take quite a long time. There are some stores (or rebate processing houses) that I will not buy something that has a rebate.

I make copies of everyrthing and write the date sent. Then I check periodically until I get it. I rarely have to call and hound them for it.

Ya I have copies of everything and do check. Its just a pain and I am sure they hope people won't bother with it.

They probably do but there's no way I'm not turning in a rebate especially if it's a sizeable amount. I sometime don't turn in the $1 or $2 rebates.

I sent in a 2 rebate's to HP last year when I bought my new computer/monitor. Did everything online and then sent in. I got one really quick, within a couple weeks. When I checked online for the second one they show'd it as being "pending reciept of rebate forms in mail" or whatever. I checked every few days for about 6 weeks. Status never changed. Even though the status never changed I did recieve the rebate but it took close to 4 months to get.
