Maiden Voyage

I spoke with the entertainment manager and he said that they are working on a welcome aboard show and a farewell show, but it will be a while before they are ready.

I've love to know if anyone else knows anything about this. We leave in a few weeks and we specifically did NOT do the maiden voyage so that we would get to experience everything on a "normal" cruise. Going to be bummed if things are missing - it's not like we will be able to cruise in another 3 months to catch what we missed.

We LOVED Costa Maya! I swear there are no people on earth friendlier and kinder than the Mayans we encountered. And they never had their hand out for tips either! Head and shoulders over Cozumel with it multiple souvenir shops etc. My son had a kayak excursion cancelled (due to wind) so he and family took a taxi to 'town' (cost $2.00) They met a fellow who rented ATV's which they did with the owner as a guide. He took them to see spider monkeys and the kids fed them bananas, then the hacked coconuts in half to drink the milk. He also brought them to a totally secluded beach for swimming. My daughter and I did the SALSA & SALSA and believe me I was having second thoughts about drinking Margaritas at 7:30 AM but it was GREAT! we made two salsas and one guacomole (awesome avocados) and then the little kids had a pinata party/ The host showed us some salsa steps and we were then on our own. Great beach with strawroofed spots with lounges underneath. The tour provided us with taxi tickets to leave whenever we wanted to!! My daughter and I rented a Waverunner (jet ski) and had a guide. We drove up and down the coastline and even saw a huge sea turtle surface! Costa Maya was the best and most unique of the ports to us.

There is a tiny bit of shade under the trees in and around the ruins. Bring plenty of water. I would bring a collapsable umbrella. The deluxe motor coaches (buses) are well air conditioned and they furnish a bottle of water or cup of soda as you reboard the coach. The ride is approximately 50 minutes from the port to the site. Not too much to see but it is a comfortable ride and the roads are excellent.:thumbsup2

It is a walking tour and you may climb on the ruins. There is an area that you would need to climb some rather steep steps to appreciate. But if I could not have climbed them, I still would have enjoyed the tour.

Oh, that is a great idea about bringing an umbrella. It is decided, I will definitely order a 6 pack or so of water for our room. I am looking forward to being on the ship, I just wish it was going somewhere else. Thank you for the info.

I have the horn battle on my camera. I taped it Friday as we sailed out of Port Canaveral and the Fantasy was docked further down the channel. When I get it online I will post the link.

Appreciate it, but we wanted to actually experience it since the freebie cruises prior to the MV had them. It was a small thing to expect to happen and was a bit of a slap in the face that we didn't get one.

They are not doing things the same on the Fantasy as they have on the Magic & Wonder's 7-night cruises. For one thing, there is not a character breakfast planned. This is due to the fact that the larger number of guests makes it impossible for the characters to make the rounds in the dining room during an hour CB. Also, the setup of the dining rooms makes it difficult for the characters to actually get around to all of the tables. Max did say that IF and WHEN they do a CB, it will be held in AP. There are no parades at dinner, again due to the fact that there are places in the dining rooms where you cannot see what is going on in the rest of the MDR. The first three nights are the rotation menus. The last four are the same menu in each of the dining rooms. This is due to the AP show schedule. Crush is held the first three nights and Animation is held the last three nights. Pirate night will be the 4th night due to the schedule. So on formal night there will be three different menus being used in the MDRs. The rotation for the MV was AERAERA. I asked about the animation show menu affecting lobster on semiformal night and Fitz assured me that the rest of the menu would be the same that night in all three MDRs so no one will miss out on the lobster or lava cake.

There is a new photo package deal where you can get either digital pics or photos for the smaller packages. The CD was $349 or you could get the CD and every single picture for $399. They are now putting the borders on the CD. You cannot get the CD without the borders. I grabbed the card that listed the prices for the smaller packages. Will post when I find it in our bags.

I love this CD plus prints for $399.00. But I don't like the ideas of the borders on the CD though. I like my photo's minus the borders. Is it possible to buy your photos without borders. I was going to buy the CD but wont if it has borders on the pictures.

The BEST gift we got (besides the Lithograph) was the last night when we received a copy of ALL the menus from the cruise. I am trying to figure out how to get these online so you can see the menus for the cruise you will be on shortly. Man, hard to believe this time last week we were on Grand Cayman...:sad2:

That would be fantastic if you can put the menu's up. I'd love to see the full menus.

I can confirm that. Our animation show night was semi formal night and we had lobster and lava cake on the menu.

I may have missed it in someone else's thread but what were your MV gifts? Any pictures?

Here are the champagne glasses!

Here is the lithograph that was drawn by Don 'Ducky' Williams... we had ours signed by the senior officers.
