I know that this toipic has been covered a few times but I just have a couple more questions.
1. where can I find the magnetic paper
2. how do I adhear my design on it
and last but not least
3. Do I have to use an ink jet printer or can I use a solid ink printer?
DH works for xerox and we have a pretty fancy machine but it uses solid ink (kinda like large crayons) and I am worried if it will be a problem on the special paper. By the way I can't ask him as this is a surprize for our honeymoon for him. Any help is greatly appreciated , especially since we leave in 16 days....yea!!

You can pick up the magnetic paper at walmart, office depot, staples, etc. It can be kinda pricey though. Or you could order it from here http://www.decalpaper.com/magnetic-decalpaper.html

They ship very quickly.

Try printing out your design on a regular piece of paper. If it works out good then it should work on the magnetic paper.

That way you can see what it will look like on regular paper without wasting the expensive magnetic paper.

We have our signs already printed and on the fridge, of course DH will reprint new ones before we leave for Florida, but it has been a lot of fun for him designing them and practicing.

I buy my magnetic paper from Wal-mart. It's 5 sheets for $7.96. It is just like a regular piece of computer paper that's has a magnetic backing. You feed them thru your printer one at a time. If you like the way your printer prints on regular paper, then you'll like the way it prints on the magnetic paper. It's the same.

Since solid-ink printers use wax, they're not useable for iron-on (tee-shirt) transfers or for anything that's going to be heat-laminated, but they're fine for magnetic signs. In fact, if solid-ink signs get a little damp, they won't run!

If I print my sign on my ink jet will I have problem with the ink running if it gets wet? Are all of you printing on ink jets?

I have used my ink jet printer to print 36 signs and haven't gotten one of them wet yet. In the magnet sheet package (Avery from Walmart) there's a 'Safety Tips' paper that says: Contact with water or other moisture may cause the sheet to change color. Just be careful with it and keep it away from water. If you're really worried about it getting wet, put it in a ziploc bag until you put it on your door.

I have a silly question that just popped into my head for some reason. If you take your signs in your carry-on will the metal detector go off when your bag goes through.

Evidentlly not because I had mine in my carry-on in my binder with all my other papers and it went right thru. No problems.

MommaluvsDis ~ Thanks. That's exactly where I was planning on putting my signs too.

Thanks to everyone for your answers. I am going to start on it tonite!:Pinkbounc
