Yes, your are picked up that long ahead of time. And it can indeed be a long wait at the airport. But disney has to plan this so that you won't be late and blame them. So, they err on the side of caution.

Our pick up was 3 hours before and well worth it. If you have more resort stops or have security issues, you will need the time.

We thought the 3 hours would be way too much time, but by the time all the stops were made at all the resorts and going through security....it was just fine.

the 3 times we used it they had us for 3 hrs before and to be there 15 min before that time. total 3 hrs 15 mins

had no problems and like others said you can't blame Disney if your late for your flight with a shorter pick up time.

Yes, 3 hours is the norm and based on my recent MCO experiences, you need the time. First of all ME may stop at one or more resorts on the return trip and then stop at one or more of the other airlines before yours. Also MCO has a "reputation" of long lines at the TSA security check. We used ME in April and August and needed every minute of the 3 hour pick up to make our flight. FWIW we used a towncar for our October trip (Dolphin) and the pick up was 2 1/2 hour prior - direct to MCO from the Dolphin.

I feel that waiting at the gate is much better than stressing on the bus or in the terminal trying to clear security.

We were scheduled on a 4:15 PM bus for a 7:00 PM flight departure. We didn't stop at any other resorts (we were at Pop) and had about 2 hours at the airport. No long lines at Security. We had enough time to have a bite to eat and enjoy some coffee...then on to the gate. A little more time at the gate than I would normally like but nothing too bad...just relaxed and read the newspaper...better than being rushed!

Orlando International Airport recommends that you get to the airport 2hrs prior to your domestic flight. Since it can take 45 minutes to get to the airport from Disney, DME times it just right.
