MagicBands: Can Two People Have the Same Color?

I know that this is a sort of stupid question, but is it okay for more than one person on the same reservation to have the same color magic band? If so, how do you tell them apart? I would imagine that there is a way since those who don't personalize all get gray, but I'm confused.

Sorry this is our first trip since Magic Bands, and there is so much new stuff to figure out. :confused3 Thanks!!

1. Yes.

2. They can be personalized with names on the inside.

Yes, they absolutely can. When you pick your magic band color, it gives you the option of having your name on the band. The name is printed on the underside of the band.

Yes you can have the same color. Your first name will be printed on the inside of the band. You can also edit that if you would like as well.

MY daughter and I both have pink. Our names are in them. Just make sure you have the right one on each day. Once we were walking in and mine would not work but it was because we had accidentally switched them.

Thank you all so much! :worship::worship:
I figured as much, but I'm totally overthinking everything with this trip since there have been so many changes since we were last there in May 2013. Seems like a lifetime ago!

Thank you so much for your FP+ thread!! I have read just about every page, and I'm still a nervous wreck!

No need to be a nervous wreck. On our second trip with the MagicBands, my husband was fine, I was not allowed to enter the park. A Cast Member quickly figured out the problem (after asking me to move out of the entrance line so not to hold up anyone behind me) and it was because of a mistake I made on the trip prior which was fixed before we left for that trip but somehow reapplied itself to the second trip. Strange but I was let into the park and went to Guest Relations where my husband and I spent about a half hour but everything was sorted out.

The point is - even if something does go wrong with the MagicBands, as long as you know your Disney Experience login, Guest Relations can help you right there at the park. Heck, my husband didn't even know he had a Disney Experience and they were able to track him down with no problems.

How many letters are we allowed to use for the names in customizing the Magic Bands?

I know it's less than 10 -- I wanted to put my cell phone number on my daughters' bands and it wouldn't fit.

Mine are now shipping, so I can't check how many exactly. I think it's 8 or 9 characters.

And if, for some reason, you ended up with non-personalized bands, each band has a unique number printed on the underside. This number can be found in each person's MDEx profile under "Magic Bands and Cards".
