So I’ve made reservations for hotels and dining on my MDE account, which includes my mother-in-law. My account is the only active one…I had everyone input manually.

Only recently figured out that my mother-in-law has a MagicBand from her trip with other family last summer. I’d like to take advantage of that. Naturally it wouldn’t link to what I have set up.

My question is: will there be an easy way to swap whatever account has her MB linked into my reservations? I don’t want to screw up anything established under my account. (I tried looking around to see if it even gave me an option to link an existing account but didn’t see any.)

Once a MagicBand is linked it can't be reassigned which is why you can't add it to your account, even under your mother-in-law's name.

Does your mother-in-law have her own My Disney Experience account where she can manage that MagicBand from her previous trip? If so, you can invite her to plan with you under "My Family & Friends" with the same email address she uses to log-in and view that MagicBand. Her profile would then be linked to your existing resort reservation.

If your mother-in-law does not have her own account I would honestly just get her a new band. You could contact the other family member that booked the trip and managed your mother-in-law as a guest through the same "My Family & Friends" screen to give her access to that band, then link to her from your account following the steps mentioned above, but it's so many steps and probably not worth the $10-$20 in savings if you need to call Disney IT because there is a hiccup in the process.
