How far in advance can you order your Magic Bands for a cruise? We are going in December and I wanted to order them today. When I go to the website, it doesn't give me an option to purchase. I see this below. Same with the app. It gives me the option to purchase on the app and I am routed to this page. Am I missing something? I wanted to order the cruise bands specifically.

Despite having my reservation in the app I did have to go through something in the “troubleshooting tips” to (re-?)link my reservation. I’m sorry I don’t remember specifics but I know I had to follow a bunch of links in the troubleshooting section, including re-adding other people in my stateroom.

Once I got all that done I had the option to order, even at a year ahead of the cruise.

Used to be 45 days prior to sail date, but changed to as soon as you are booked. I have a cruises booked for Oct 2024 and Aug 2025 and the option to order is available for both.

Go to your cruise reservation on disneycruise.com and look for the section on the main Cruise Details page that mentions connected guests and click the link there.

I second (third?) the suggestions above. I had the same issue when trying to purchase a DB+ for my cruise last November. Did all the troubleshooting and ended up having to call (it had something to do with my mom having two different email accounts, I think?). Anyway, go through the troubleshooting and hopefully that works for you!

how far in advance can you purchase them? I ask because there is a band for 20 something dollars- that i would love to buy now- but will it be "good" until our cruise next august, especially since its nonrefundable?

I know that buying via the DCL website we had to wait until our cruise was 45 days or sooner. It wouldn't let us purchase them tied to our DCL reservation any sooner than that.

I'm not sure how it works if buying from the Disney Store.

You can order them through your Disney Cruise reservation as soon as it's been made. The bands available through DCL are rechargeable and usable for as long as Disney (Cruise Line and Parks) support the MagicBand technology.

Bands ordered through your cruise reservation can also be used at Disney World and DisneyLand. Same with MB+ purchased for a WDW Resort reservation, WDW Annual Pass or purchased retail at WDW, DLR, DisneyStore, those can be used on-board DCL.

nice
sooo if it can be reused, then it should last-
It should be able to be reused. It is rechargable so as long as it doesn't break then it should be good for future trips. AS long as Disney does not decide to "upgrade" again and make these obsolete. :)

Just be sure to charge them at least every 6 months to keep the battery health. I bought mine way ahead of the cruise I will be going on. I read online, I think it was FAQ on the cruise line website to be sure to keep it charged in between cruises.

-They also work if dead, so you could use them without the lights in the future, even if the battery goes bad.

-Have them on and ready when you check-in at the port. They scan them there and it's easier than trying to do it on the ship, which requires waiting in line at guest services. I know, because I stupidly had mine buried somewhere in my bags and thought I could just do it in the app like the parks, but a cast member needs to link them for cruising.

-There has been much debate here about usefulness, but I loved having my "key" on me at all times, including when swimming. I previously had a bad habit of leaving the room without my card.

Just ordered mine I’m so excited they have these now for the ships love using them in the Parks !!! Wish I could turn my million other bands into these !! I’ve collected a few over the years I really like !!

If they are MagicBand+, they will work on the ship (and in the parks). If they're original MagicBand or MagicBand 2.0, they won't work onboard.

Just FYI they need to stay charged for the kids club, they'll issue them an oceaneers club band if the MB+ loses charge while in the club, but they ask for the bands to be charged again before the kid returns.

For whatever reason, it's not seeing my reservation for next year and won't let me buy them now. I'll just wait until the Treasure launches and then maybe the gremlins in the system will see my reservation.

FYI you might have to call. I had a similar issue with trying to get DB+s for my November sailing last year. I did all the troubleshooting things they suggested online to no avail, so I had to call. Turns out there was some email issue with my mom; they had to some something behind the scenes to get it to work.

Hopefully the gremlins will magically see your reservation and yours is much simpler to resolve. Just letting you know if that doesn't work they might be able to resolve via phone.

I could buy them for my last reservation, I think? I can't remember. 3 of us already had MB+ so I needed to get one for our youngest but I might have purchased through a resort reservation.

I would call. We booked the Wish next year in Sept/Oct and it let me order DB+ right away.

It may have to do with it being the treasure. They probably haven't added them to the system yet. I don't see it for mine either, and none of the help articles list the treasure yet. Guessing as it gets closer to the first sailing

Do the magicbands obtained through the DCL site work like they do in Disney World (where they are assigned to one person and not transferable) or like Disneyland (where you can link/unlink tickets, etc and can reassign to someone else)? I assume it's the former but just want to verify from someone who's experienced them. Thanks.
