We are visiting Disney Orlando and staying at Saratoga Springs in May 2014.

I have a number of questions regarding what is linked to the MagicBands and what we will have to pay for in cash or on card.

1) I will be linking a credit card to our MagicBands. Can I use the MagicBand to pay for everything within Disney World, including all shops and restaurants in Downtown Disney?

2) If not, when and where will I need cash/card?

3) As part of our package we will receive $200 Gift Card. Will this be linked to the MagicBands?

4) What can the Gift Card $ be spent on and where? i.e. gratuities, food.

5) Our package includes other Magical Extras, which are mainly discounts at restaurants and shops. Will these discounts be linked to our MagicBands?

This last question may only be answerable by UK visitors but here goes.

My credit card does not charge a fee for use abroad as long as the retailer puts the charge through in $ and does not convert to £.

6) When linking a credit card to your MagicBand, do Disney put charges through in $ or £ ?

I only have a few of the answers. You can buy everything on the MBs except for a few things like balloon vendors in the parks -- the ones that walk around the parks with a bunch of balloons. For all of the stores and restaurants, including downtown disney, you're fine. They also don't help with some additional services on property, like the gas stations.

When they do up your bill at the end of your stay, it will be charged in US funds. Your CC company will convert it to £.

With the gift card you can always use it at the end of your stay to credit the 200 dollars toward your final bill. You can also limit charging amounts for the bands. So let's say you have a little one that wants to buy their own stuff, you will get them a PIN number when you check in and you can set a limit. We do that with our kids and tell them it is their money to spend but once it is gone that is it. Was always fu with little ones but now that they are teenagers they wine a little when they have gone through their money in regard to reservations at restaurants everything should be linked through your band. Make sure to check that at check in.

I'll tackle #5. Your Magical Extras...ie discounts, will not be linked to your band. You should receive a discount card which you will have to carry and present.

When purchasing food using magic bands are you asked whether you would like it charged to your room or do you have to use available dining plan credits?

For example, I may want to buy a bottle of water using my magic band but this would be a waste of one of my snack credits, so would rather it was just charged to my room.

In my experience they usually ask. If they don't, make sure you say how you want to pay (credits vs. room charge).
