MagicBand Life Expectancy

I'm heading to see the mouse in a few weeks and was wondering what the life expectancy is for the MagicBands. I have one that is a year old, another that is half a year old, and a brand new one.

I have read that the active RFID system has a battery life of about 2 years. The passive system is good basically forever as it is not powered.

disney officially claims 2 years.
but i've seen other people say really 3yrs is probably more likeit.
