Hi everyone! I just wanted to tell you what a great tiime I had in Disneyland last week. My b/f (vascubaguy) and I experienced the "Happiest Homecoming on Earth" from October 19th - October 22! We had a great time and I would like to share with you some of the highlights.
The Happiest Place On Earth!
October 19th was my 29th Birthday and we flew to California (via Charlotte, NC) from Norfolk. We arrived in LA and took the super shuttle to Anaheim where we had planned on staying at the Carousel Inn, but we were moved to the Annabella instead (you can read more in vascubaguy's thread on this fiasco here: http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=943251). The highlight of this day, besides seeing Sleeping Beauty Castle in person for the first time in my life (we visited DL last August but the castle was under "magical" blue tarps then), was eating my birthday lunch at the Blue Bayou restaurant. We both had the Monte Cristo sandwich and they were excellent! Here is a pic of me at the Blue Bayou on my birthday!
It was dark in there but you can see my birthday sticker I got from the city hall on Main Street.
We saw the Parade of Dreams at 7:00 and this parade is now my all-time favorite! The song from Brother Bear is perfect and the part when the parade literally stops and the voice of Walt Disney announces "To all who come to this happy place--Welcome!" gave me chills everytime! I recommend seeing the parade from "it's a small world". When the parade makes its first stop it is right after the final float featuring the prince and princesses comes out and it is awesome to see them come down off of the float and dance in the street!
Prince Phillip and Dale dancing in the street in front of "it's a small world"
Princess Aurora goes to the dogs (in this case Pluto and Goofy) to get her groove on in the Parade of Dreams.
All in all it was great spending my birthday in DL with my favorite guy! The next day, Thursday the 20th, we decided to use our early entry day and go to MK at 8 am. Official opening time was 9am. The crowds were pretty low until around noon or so and then it got pretty busy. But we still managed to do alot. Matterhorn, Haunted Mansion Holiday, Pirates of the Caribbean. This was also a day to videotape (since my family has never been to DL but to WDW) some of the park. Watching the footage I took while riding the Rocket's in Tomorrowland can make you dizzy!
At 10:30 on the steps of the Train Station on Main Street they have a lovely ceremony. It is a "rededication" of Disneyland and they play Walt Disney's Opening Day Speech. It is very moving.
I videotaped this ceremony while vascubaguy snapped pictures. The fab five are later joined by the mayor of Main Street.
We had lunch at Napals, a pizzaria in DTD. It was very good food and the Lemon Martini I had was delicious! We then decided to hit up Disney's California Adventure and see if we could get information on the upcoming Mickey's Halloween Treat. Once we got there we found out that adult's could Trick-Or-Treat too! We rode Screamin' and the Sun Wheel, and vascubaguy snapped more pics. A CM took this one for us.
The picture was dark so I had to lighten it.
We decided to go back to MK to end the day.
In part 2 I will share with you the events of the 21st (More MK and Mickey's Halloween Treat) and the 22nd (vascubaguy's birthday!)
