Magical moment during our trip

We had something cool happen to us last Sunday at DCA. In all of our 16 trips to both DLR and WDW this hasn't happened before.

We are avid pin traders. It's kind of an obsession, especially for my DH. We stop every CM with a lanyard we come across and ask to trade.

So, we were in the FP line for RSR and a tour guide (checkered vest and skirt) came by wearing pins. We asked to see them. She had a very interesting pin we hadn't seen before and DH asked to trade for it. Then she said, "I told myself this morning that whoever asked for this pin would get a pass to ride anything they want in the 2 parks." We were so excited, especially after waiting in the FP line for 45 minutes at that point. As we were deliberating which ride, we said maybe Toy Story. She recommend that one, since of course it has no FP machine and the line fills up quickly.

So we chose TSM and she gave us a vip ride pass for TSM up to 6 people!! So cool. Probably our favorite moment of the trip. So unexpected and an act of random kindness. I wish we had gotten her name, we were too shocked to think to ask. :)

Just thought I would share.

ETA: the only ride she couldn't give us a pass to was RSR. Just in case you were wondering why we didn't choose it. :)

Cool. After waiting 45 min for RSR, I wouldn't have chosen it even if she offered or else it would feel like wasted time. Even though the remaining wait time was still probably longer than any other line. :)

I am an avid pin collector and occasional pin trader. Just curious ... what pin did you trade her for? (the interesting one)

I'll take a picture of it for you when I unpack. The suitcases are still in the car, LOL. It was one of the safety series pins, like the ones for minding the safety rules on rides. This one was people loading the log for splash mountain. My husband thinks that safety series pins are hilarious. He's weird.

I was also going to ask what pin it was. LOL We pin traders are an odd bunch.....haha ;)

DS10 likes the safety series pins too and has several in his collection.

Did you spread more magic by adding a few more people to make 6 for the FP?

Are they newish? DH traded for his first one last year from another CM. We don't buy specific pins online to complete sets, so it may be a while before we find more. We like to find them the old-fashioned way by trading in the parks.

We've been working on the circular alphabet set for a couple of years!! Found two this trip! Three more to go. :cool1:

My holy grail is the 2nd of daisy's three neices in the flower shaped pin. I have April and June, I need May. I've been looking for her since '08.

Wow! I just checked it out. We've never joined any pin groups or gone to any events. We just hunt while we're in the parks. This may take me down a dangerous road!!

No, they're not new. I think the last time he found one was a couple of years ago. I looked through his pin book this afternoon just for kicks, and he has 5 safety themed pins. He got them all through pin trading. He doesn't pin trade as much as he used to; he's now very into vinylmation trading.

SO cool!! Do you display your pics in a shadowbox? We have one large shadowbox, so far and a couple hundred pins loose that need to be displayed.

Also, i noticed on the website that pinpics had a booth at ComicCon this year. Ugh!! The one year we couldn't get tickets. We go to ComicCon every year!! I'll be looking for them next year.

Not sure is I should show DH the pinpics website. He collects things. Many things. He fills my house with stuff. We have a whole room devoted to his pinball machine collection. Who needs 8 pinball machines?? His parents are collectors, too. It's in his blood.

Yes, I use shadow boxes to display my pins ... It makes viewing them very easy.
