Magical Fireworks Show 'best' viewing location?

Hi All,
My family will be at Disneyland June 15th - June 22nd. With the opening of Carsland I'm planning this trip like never before. We are veterans of WDW but have only gone during "off season" and while we planned I don't think we have experienced anything like we are going to experience at Disneyland...crowd wise.

So I think we will have one shot to see 'Magical" at Disneyland. So where is the best location? I'm guessing main street or the hub, but which is better. (I know in Florida if you are too close to the castle you can't see the fireworks behind the castle)

How long before the show do we need to be there? I'm guessing at least an hour, but want to make sure. What's the procedure? Just stand in wait or actually sit down in the middle of the street?

I'll have two daughters (10,8) so seeing over people can be an issue.

Any info you can provide would be helpful.

I know you can see the show from Frontierland and Small World but I don't think that's the 'best' place to see it from, correct? I know it may be good and different but this may be our only time to see it...so I want the 'best'.

Thanks
Todd

My family likes to be right in front of the castle (get there early... really early), or from the main street railway station (get there early... really early). You're also going to be at DL during the opening of Cars Land, so I would think that you had best prepare yourself for some insane crowds.

I have heard that the corner by the baby center and restrooms is a good place because everyone thinks that they have to be so close. I'm going to try that out next month. :goodvibes

Main street train station if you can. I have been there when it is packed and when it is empty, so I think its just luck. But I prefer it up there because it is less crowded most of the time, and its more of a panoramic view.

great for kids because they can see over the crowd and not have adults heads blocking their view. Have fun :wizard:

we stake out a spot on the hub directly in front of the castle in the street about 1.5 hours before the show starts. Bring a blanket and a game of UNO to pass the time.
You can see the lights on the castle the best, nothing in front of you, no trees to block your view and you can see all the fireworks perfectly from there.
I think Train Station is good too but second choice for me.

Thanks Everyone!

CMHusband - when you say right in front of the castle in the street are you referring to this point I've placed on this map?

so you can sit on the ground and wait. What about when watching the show can you continue to sit and watch?

We like to be a little bit further back, but not the train station. Approximately by the Photo Supply Store in terms of front - back and dead center in terms of left - right. Favorite spot.

Yes, you can sit in the street before the fireworks show. However, everybody will stand when it starts. Special VIP seating is in the hub right in front of the castle.

Hello

How good is the viewing from the Fantasmic preferred/dessert seating area? I booked this on one particular day thinking that'd be good to stay in our seats for fireworks.

But now I'm having second thoughts and may change Fantasmic to a different day so that we can get a dedicated spot for the fireworks. The again my group may prefer to do both at once and spend more time on rides...not sure at the moment.

You will miss a lot of effects from the Fantasmic! area, since you can't see the castle. If you really want to see the firework show, that's probably not where you want to see them from.

Fireworks CAN be canceled (some times of year more than others, but we had bad luck in November a week before Thanksgiving). So if you have to see the fireworks, you should try as early as possible and be prepared for a possible cancellation.

Thanks Eee-va.

I've changed by F! dessert package to a different night than the fireworks to make sure that we get a good spot for both without having to rush from one to the other.

The fireworks are only showing on the last night of our stay so hopefully the weather is ok.
