Do I have to book this on the website prior to my trip? Or do you just hop on it once you land?
 
You should book so they know to expect you but as long as you have a resort reservation they won't turn you away!

Return journey needs to be booked as it is done on Flight times and there you are booked on a specific bus.

Please make a reservation for Disney’s Magical Express when you make your Disney Resort hotel reservation online or over the phone. Guests under age 18 must have parent or guardian permission to call.

U.S. and Canada Reservations: (407) 939-1936

United Kingdom Reservations: 0800 16 90 730

International Guests: Make your reservation through the same travel agent or tour operator used to book your trip. Let your agent know that you would like Disney’s Magical Express service included in your Resort hotel stay.

If you did not select Disney's Magical Express transportation and include your flight information when you made your reservation, please add Disney’s Magical Express to your reservation on the My Reservatons page in My Disney Experience. My mum goes by her middle name and I've just realised I've put that name instead of her first name (which is on passport). Do they check names against passports? If so, will I need to call and change it?
 
No they don't check ID - just ask you for your details and print your tickets :thumbsup2
 
I'm fairly sure I've read that you do need to book DME and can't just turn up... https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/airport-transportation-reservation/ is what I used to book DME. After booking it I got a note with my hotel reservations in MDE that says "Airport Transportation: Disney Magical Express"...

How long did it take to show on your MDE?
Mines still not showing. I did recieve an email though right after doing it saying "thanks for submitting your request for Magical Express.." along with my details

Mine still doesn't show and I booked six months ago :)

It doesn't always show on MDE. If you have received a confirmation you will be fine :thumbsup2

Possibly a few days but not entirely sure, just know that it showed up on my MDE - it's under the hotel details part of the "Reservations and Tickets" page.

I got 2 emails after booking online though - first one is "thanks for submitting...", second one says that the reservation is confirmed. I think it took anywhere between 2-10 days for me to get the second email...

When are you going? You can add DME up until 5 days prior to arrival so you can afford to leave it to the week before to check. I see mine has suddenly turned up in MDE. I added it when I booked my flights at the end of August last year. It appeared within the last day or two.

I've had an email today saying it's been confirmed. Still isn't showing in MDE but I'm not too concerned now I've had the email :)
 
I don't know how it works now with MDE, but previously when I added mine to my package, it showed on my account and invoice and I got vouchers. When I booked it myself, I got an email, but it never showed on my Disney documents and remained separate. At least you know that they know about you now :)

When I went in March, I booked DME through DVC. I got a confirmation Email but it never showed on MDE and I never got anything else.

When we arrived at MCO, I went to the DME desk and gave them my name and confirmation number. They were able to locate us straight away, printed off a voucher and sent us through to the line to wait for the bus.
 
I'm having a hard time with the link. I put in my dates and flight information and everytime I hit continue it takes me back to the date box. I'm getting completely frustrated with this. I know it's crazy but I'm almost having an anxiety attack over all this...lol. ME not working for me and I'm able to make my ADR's on Monday (which I have to do for 9 people..3 families) I just might go crazy!! ;)
