Are there only certain airlines that you can get this service?

Thanks

No....any airline can use this service. We think it is the best way to get to the World if flying into Orlando.

No. Guests traveling on any airline can use Magical Express, including the inbound luggage transfer service.

The tricky part is that only guests traveling on a participating airline can use the Resort Airline Check-in service when leaving WDW. Guests flying on an airline that doesn't participate in RAC can still use the DME bus transfer service, but they need to take their luggage back to the airport with them and check it there.

For more information, including a list of current participating airlines, see this sticky thread on the Transportation board.

Any airline can use it but if you fly SouthWest (and maybe some others?) you have to schlepp your own luggage from the bus to airline checkin, whereas other airlines you can check your luggage when you get on the bus and it automagically makes it to your plane.

I forgot to mention about check-in. That is the only bad part bad. Some airlines don't have this service so it takes a bit of work on your part. But if you don't mind using Disney transportation the whole time you are there, then this is worth your time. Saves money on a car. Just remember you leave for the airport THREE HOURS EARLY! Could be bad for a seven a.m. flight ;)

This is kind of accurate, but requires some clarification. As noted in my PP, this limitation by airline applies only to guests when they are departing from WDW. ALL guests on ALL airlines can use ALL DME services, including luggage transfer, when arriving at WDW. (The exception being that the luggage transfer service is only available for flights arriving between 5:00a .m. and 10:00 p.m.)

The RAC service, to which the quoted post applies, is available only to guests flying on participating airlines and SWA is the most notable airline that does not participate (although they have just started a test pilot at one WDW resort). RAC actually is a separate service and not technically part of the DME service, although obviously they work nicely together.

However, guests on participating airlines do not check luggage when you get on the bus. Guests must have completed check in at the separate RAC desk no later than three hours before their flight (which also is about when the DME bus will be leaving) and no earlier than 12 hours before the flight. The RAC desk is only open from 5:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., however, so those guests with flights before 8:00 a.m. and some others won't be able to use RAC even if they are on a participating airline.

Great news!Southwest is now providing Resort Airline Check-In at Pop Century. If all goes well there,it will be expanded to all WDW Resorts.:)

In short...it doesn't matter how you arrive at MCO...the airline doesn't matter, nothing matters. All that matters is that you are at MCO, you are staying at a WDW owned resort, and you are listed on the room reservation. That's it. And of course, you must have a reservation, made before you left home, for DME.
If you tag your bags, with the yellow DME tags, your bags will go directly from the plane to your resort..provided you arrive between 7am and 10pm. If you arrive between those times, you will have to retrieve your own bags.
A note...Shades of Green and the S/D are not Disney owned resorts, so not included in the DME perk.

When it's time to head back to MCO, from your WDW owned resort, you get to again ride the DME bus...as long as you have your reservation. IF you are flying a 'participating airline' you can check your bags at the resort, get your boarding pass...all before you leave WDW. This is not DME, it is RAC (remote airline checkin). You don't even need to be riding DME back to the airport!!! You just need to be flying on a 'participating airline'. And yes, SW is doing a test run of providing RAC (remote airline checkin) at POP. Here's hoping it goes well and they offer it at the other resorts...making SW a 'participating airline'!!

Caution: Being in the line to check your baggage at the RAC (resort airline check in) stand does not count as being punctual for your bus back to the airport! Given that your cut off time for baggage checking is about the same time as your bus time.

You need to be at the bus platform, ready to board, 15 minutes before your reserved bus time.

No no no no no no no no no :) Although in fairness, it appears the quoted poster is confusing arrivals and departures.
