My only experience with ME, I can only say that the PEOPLE transportation was very quick. As for the luggage, our room was ready when we checked in, so we went to check it out and then out to the parks, our luggage was ready when we came back a few hours later. Now....not sure how long it had been there.

I guess what I'm saying is that it is possible your luggage won't make it there until a few hours after you do, but whether or not that matters is the question. If you're planning on staying at the resort for a few hours when you first get there, or are needing something from your luggage that can't be kept in your carry-on, you might want to consider getting your own luggage and bringing it on the bus with you.

I've heard more good than bad about the luggage transport though.

DME tells you that your luggage won't be there the same time you are. For us, it's not a big deal. We always pack a carry on to get us through the first 24-36 hours anyway. We check in, drop our carryons in the room if it's ready, or with Bell Services if not, and go off and enjoy.

I think it's a great service, and find it more of a pain to actually claim my luggage now.

As long as you know what to expect going in, you should not have any problems

Nobody wants to sit in a hotel room and wait for hours for luggage, instead of having fun at a theme park, swimming at the pool, or enjoying a meal.

With DME, nobody has to wait in the hotel room. The luggage is delivered, even if the guest is not in the room, because Disney has taken care of the inbound bell service gratuity.

Packing swimwear or theme park attire in a carry-on is not difficult. A carry-on is always a good idea because airlines sometimes delay luggage. Being 100% dependent on immediate access to ones checked luggage is a bad idea, regardless of whether or not one is using Magical Express, and, in fact, regardless of whether the destination is Orlando or any other airport in the world.

ME is worth every penny.

Seriously, it is a free service so its hard to complain. They tell you up front that your bags won't arrive until ~3 hours later. Just plan for that and you shouldn't be disappointed.
