Hi there. Quick question regarding DME. How close to your arrival at MCO can you contact DME to arrange transportation. I ask this because it's likely my sister will be flying standby so she won't know exactly which flight she will get on but will certainly know the date. Should she arrange through DME for the date and flight she intends to try and get on then if she arrives later, at least she'll have her transfer ticket-right? She will not have checked baggage so luggage won't be an issue for DME.

Thanks,
Blakely

Have your sister be sure to call DME and get a reservation. Your actual arrival time isn't all that important. I've had flight times change by several hours before and I never called DME..never had an issue and I had checked bags for them to collect. But, she must have that reservation in place or she won't be able to get on a bus. So, when she calls to make the reservation, have her give them flight info that is reasonably close to her expectations. Have her give them the flight info for the earlier flight...then if she can't get there, at least they are expecting her in the near future. And without any checked luggage she should be even better off.

I don't want to hijack this thread, but sinice it appears your question has been answered, BlakeNJ, I thought my question might be quickly answered here rather than starting another ME thread....

How come none of the DVC paperwork (and website) doesn't list Magical Express as a transportation option for DVC resorts? We DO get to use it, don't we?

Thanks!

Yes, you do get to use it. We flew in to MCO and then took Tiffany's to the Swan. Then we transferred over to OKW and when I got there I arranged for DME for the trip home.
I don't know why DVC is *different* but when I called DME to make arrangements for pick-up, the recording even said "If you are a DVC member and are arranging DME call guest services. i didn;t do that, I just hung on because it was so hard to get through and I know what is can be like to get through with MS also. The lady came on and could help me even though I was DVC but when I told her my pick-up was at OKW she said somethng about, "oh, this happens for DVC members quite often" as in she was having some sort of trouble??? Anyway, it went smooth from then on.

Sorry, long answer. :)

You should be able to reserve your DME via your DVC online account pages. I did that for our last DVC trip -- filled out the online form, got email confirmation that the form was received, and a day or two later received email confirmation that we were booked on DME.

Does DME send you paperwork/yellow tags as if you were staying at a WDW Resort? I assume but wanted to make sure.

I agree.

Yes, you will get the same information and documents from DME as those staying at other WDW resorts. In this case, since the DVC reservations are not directly accessible outside the DVC system, DME must be rreserved thru DVC - but once you are in the DME system, they handle everything the same as any other guest using the service.

Enjoy! :)
