Magical Express while visiting someone who has a hotel reservation

I'm planning on going down for a night in August because my cousin who has a reservation at the Grand invited me to stay for a night for free. Is it possible to still use Magical Express to get me to the hotel or would I have to get other transportation? Any info would be appreciated!

If you are listed on the hotel reservation, then you can be added to ME. However, if the hotel is part of a package (park tickets for example), that will need to be paid for you also to be added onto the room. If the room is over capacity, you can't be added.

If you can be added to the room reservation (i.e. the room has capacity) then yes, you will be eligible to ride DME.

If your cousin has booked a package, then they will need to add you for the night AFTER they physically arrive at the resort and either checkin at the front desk or enter the room (having done online checkin). At that point, all the restrictions associated with a package - such as everyone having to have the same ticket type - are removed and you can be added with no issues. Adding you will need to be done at the front desk. Once added, you can call DME at 866 599-0951 and make the DME reservation. Alternatively, you could just show up at DME without a reservation and they can look you up and get you set up.

Also, there is an extra fee if there are more than 2 adults in the room. Not sure who else is in your cousin‘s room, but if you are the 3rd adult, there will be a $25 fee. (I think that’s the current rate).

This is true for cash reservations, but not for DVC. The OP doesn't say what type of reservation the friend has.
