Magical Express...standing room only?

For those eavesdropping: International guests should have ME booked back to the airport four hours in advance of flight time.

Oh....and by the way ......this did happen...I am not sure why someone would think I made this up....:confused3 weird. And no we did not give the driver extra money to let us stand on the bus....:confused3 also weird. We did have our bus booked 4 hours prior but it was late and slow to load. Also, we are not experienced travellers and we were worried about getting to the airport in plenty of time. The bus driver didn't really offer an alternative and we thought it odd but really we were not sure if it was out of the ordinary...we stood on many a Disney bus after all and they all travel pretty fast IMO. That's why I asked. I will know better next time.:thumbsup2

>>> finger stuck
Something like that can cause you to miss your ME bus and you can be out of luck. Teach, your children well (where have I heard that?) not to stick their arms, legs, fingers, etc. in tight places. You cannot simply saw the metal apart as it would get extremely hot. There was an incident not too long ago on Splash Mountain where someone wedged a foot in a tight spot in one of the log boats and almost got it broken when the boat went down the big drop.

>>> bus driver ... didn't offer an alternative
If the bus driver puts you off the bus, it would be the resort that would be responsible for getting you on your way quickly.

>>> arrived at the airport and Disney had messed ...
Going to Disney the question of standing is a non-problem. You would wait in the line for the next bus in the same way as everyone else.

The driver had loaded our luggage and we were on board with 2 kids, trying to find a seat, the bus was leaving with us standing.

Captain Jenny......that is what happened to us too. You keep walking to the end of the bus and realize that as you are pulling away there are not any seats at the end.....except it happened to us on the way home.

Of course I taught my kids not to stick their body parts into tight places:teacher: ....but kids act on impulse at times. My DD5 started to chastise my DS6 afterwards. Isn't funny how you raise them the same and they turn out so different. She is very 'by the book' and he is a risk taker. Needless to say this incident scared him pretty good. Lesson learned (but always the hard way with him). I knew it was not going to be easy to get him out, that is what made it so frightening.:scared1: And guess what ....I talked to some other people at the bus stop and two of the Mom's had the same experience! One this trip and another last year. I just thought it might be something to mention to the folks at Disney, that's all. But kids can get themselves stuck almost anywhere:upsidedow .......like the Splash Mountain thing......so maybe there is not much point. :) Thanks for all the comments. Amy

I would not be surprised if this was the reason for the over-crowded bus:

Some people showed up late and missed their scheduled ride to the airport, and so were accomodated on a later bus, making it overcrowded.

We saw at least one party on every ride we've take back to the airport showing up just in time, or late. Often our bus is held up waiting as they now have to get their luggage out of storage.

rude, rude rude.

That would make sense:idea: as ours was the last stop before going to the airport. There was only one other family with us waiting (a family of four)which was why I couldn't understand why we didn't have a seat when we got to the back of the bus. I thought it was just for us and the French Quarter like the Disney buses (at the time), but now I understand it stops at several resorts from the posts here. All it would take would be a few late people at different stops before it got to us and voila...no seats! That's probably exactly what happened ParrotBill. I know that sometimes people run late due to unforeseen circumstances (and some are just rude...like you said) but ME should find another way to transport them besides letting them have my seat. Shame on the bus driver for loading us on to an obviously full bus and shame on me for not saying something. I really have to be more assertive. :upsidedow
