Please help me out! I know I could do a search but I'm trying to grab a good rate before it's gone. Does Magical Express still apply if you buy your plane ticket directly through Southwest and don't do a package? How does this work? Would I just tell the hotel when I book (one of the values, not sure which one we can get yet)? Please advise.

Thanks!!

Yes, it applies. You would just give Disney your Airline itinerary (i.e. airline carrier, flight number, arrival time, etc.). You will receive yellow luggage tags, and your luggage will be taken directly to your hotel room, while you ride one of the ME buses to your resort. However, with Southwest you will have to take your luggage with you on ME bus going back to MCO (you can't check your luggage at your resort as Southwest is not a participating airline).

AS long as you are staying at a Disney hotel you can take advantage of the Magical Express. It doesn't matter which hotel. Just call them with your flight info and they will send out your tags.

So (sorry so slow--haste makes my mind quit functioning) we'd put the yellow tags on and get them from baggage claim when we arrived at MCO, then go find the bus? And on the way back, we'd take our suitcases to the bus ourselves?

THANK YOU So much for answering!!!

If you put the yellow luggage tags on your bags that you check, you won't see them at baggage claim. Disney employees (I think it's Disney, or someone who works for Disney) will get them behind the scenes and deliver them to your room (it will take a couple of hours). You will just take your carry-ons and go straight to ME buses. If you want to pick up your bags from baggage claim, you shouldn't put the yellow tags on them. Then you can pick them up at baggage claim, and take them with you on the ME bus.

One last question, if we are getting in a midnight, will they still come get us? And if so, we should not use the tags, correct? (Because we don't want them coming to our room at 2 am).

I'm pretty sure that if your flight arrives at midnight, you can still use ME. I am assuming your check in day is the day before the midnight arrival, so if you pack all the things you might need for the next day in your carry-on luggage (might be more difficult now with the new restrictions), when you check in at your resort you can ask the front desk to hold you luggage delivery till the morning. Otherwise, you just won't use the yellow tags and will get your luggage to take with you on the bus.

DME is a 24/7 operation. As long as you have a reservation, they will be there waiting for you.

If you don't want to be awakened by a luggage delivery at 2:00 a.m., follow this can't miss 3-part plan:

-- tell your resort's front desk to hold your luggage until morning

-- tell your resort's Bell Services to hold your luggage until morning

-- put the Do Not Disturb sign outside your door

This is what I plan to do for my late arrival in November.

I just heard that Southwest is going to become a particpating airline soon. Anyone have any news on this?

We've been hearing this for a long time. While it does seem to be closer to happening, I wouldn't make plans based on it's being in place when you get to WDW, unless you have seen it 'officially' announced.
