For those of you who have used magical express, did you let them deliver your luggage for you or did you pick it up yourself and bring it to the bus?

For those of you planning on using ME, will you pick up your own luggage or have it delivered?

We were planning on renting a car b/c we were staying at CBR. However, we have switched to the Polynesian and we are considering using Magical Express since we probably won't rent a car now. I've read many reviews saying it can take up to 5 hours to have your luggage delivered and I really don't want to wait that long so I'm curious what others have done using this service.

Thanks!

ME delivered our bags to my room while we were at the park. It truely was great. We left our carry ons at the desk which also were placed in our room for us once it was ready. :)

We let ME handle the luggage, and it worked out great. Heck, for us, the main benefit of using ME is not having to deal with the luggage!

I second that emotion! :rockband:

We used it in Oct, checked in at CBR at 12:30, put our carry-on bags in the room and hopped a bus to Epcot. Got back about 9:30 pm and luggage was there. We didn't need it till we got back, so no worries!! Worked like a charm! Just plan ahead a little and you will be fine! We are using ME again in May and will do the same plan! :thumbsup2

The whole point is that you don't have to wait in your room for your luggage.

Pack a carry-on with things you'll need the first day. Check everything else at your home airport. Bypass baggage claim at Orlando Airport. Get onto a Magical Express motorcoach while others on your flight are still waiting for their luggage at baggage claim. Check in at your resort without having to drag luggage to your room (or without waiting for a bellman to assist you). Go have fun!

The luggage is delivered to your room a few hours later. Disney takes care of the inbound bellman gratuity, so you don't have to wait in the room.

Checking in before your room is ready? No problem. You can go have fun. Your luggage will be delivered after your room is ready.

Late night arrival? No problem. Bring overnight items in your carry-on, and arrange to have your checked luggage delivered the next morning.

The inbound luggage transfers are the best part of Magical Express.

My DW carries a small carry-on if anybody in our party needs anything when we first arrive and it works out great. Luggage is in our room when we get back.

Last Nov, we stayed at POR and had ME deliver our luggage to the room. Two phone calls to the front desk and 8 hours later, we finally received our luggage. I did learn from our 2004 trip though to pack the much needed items in the day bag. :) Other than the wait, we were very satisfied with ME and will happily use them again for an upcoming trip. I think it's great that Disney has free ME right now.

I had originally booked a very late flight into Orlando for our upcoming trip and have ME reserved. Since we would have been arriving at the resort at midnight, I had planned to transport my own luggage on the ME bus. Luckily, I recently snagged a much earlier flight, so I will probably go ahead and let ME deliver the luggage afterall. :)

Have ME take care of your luggage. It does take a while but then if you plan and bring anything you possibly need for the first 4 hours, you're ok. Make sure you pack your swimsuits in the carryon or you'll be like our friends. Wading in the pool with your pants.

We used ME in early Feb. We arrived at our resort at 10:50am and our luggage was there at 1pm. No problem, we will use ME again without a doubt. :goodvibes

That's excellent.

In a post today on the DVC Planning board, WebmasterDoc reported a very positive DME experience. See the first paragraph of this post.

The DME transportation and luggage service works well for many people.

Still, it's a good idea to pack on the assumption that it will take 5 or 6 hours between landing and having your luggage "magically appear" in your room. Then it doesn't matter whether it really takes 2 hours or 6 hours.

It's great to bypass baggage claim at the airport and to check in at the resort with only carry-ons.
