Magical Express Problems

Had a great time in WDW in Jan but had a few problems with their magical express service on the return-just to pre warn you!

We had prebooked ME months ago, but a month before we flew we had to extend our holiday be 1 day as BA cancelled our return flight (ggrrr but never mind-got some vouchers and an extras days stay and free night in POP!). We booked through the walt disney tour company and phoned them to extend our hotel stay by 1 night-no problem I also asked them to re-arrange our ME return journey for the next day.

Our ME vouchers didn't turn before we left (in fact they never turned up), but we wanted to collect our luggae ourselves so it didnt matter. Went to check in at the ME desk and they had our details but our extra nights hotel stay wasn't on their screen-by this point I got worried but was reassured the ME system wasn't up to date (even though I changed the booking a MONTH before?!!). I was given a phone number to sort out the return journey, the lady was a bit rude but I didnt care as we were in disney!

We had no wait for the bus-just strolled on it wsa only half full and POP got dropped off first (even though the other drop offs were deluxe hotels) and the bus driver was great at getting everybody in the spirit-no compliants at all.

When we checked in we had our extra night on the POP system - so that was ok too!

However, 3 days before we left I phoned the ME helpline to arrange my pick up, again their system didnt have our extra hotel night on their system and she got very confused. Ended up sorting it on the phone and organising them to pick us up an hour earlier as BA check in closes 2 hours before. However the night before our vouchers still didnt turn up! Had to phone up again and re-book again! Was told it was ok to not have paperwork.

The day we left a Mears coach turned up which turned out to be a ME coach too I asked if this the one were scheduled for and he said he didnt know and for us to get on if we wanted - but we needed paper work before we could get on (!!!) we then had to fill in a form before getting allowed on the bus-holding it up for everyone else. This bus was dirty the bus driver was rude and the video was broken. Don't get me wrong we got there in plenty of time and I don't like to complain as the service is free-but the rest of the holiday was so perfect this was a bit rubbish really and I expected more from disney!

Apolgies for the long message - but I now have it all off my chest! haha

We have use ME several times over the previous few years and I agree with you the system is not prefect, although I always think it's a free service. The best fun we have had when they forgot us as the hurricane had only passed and they didn't think the airport was open. Another time was when they sent a large bus to collect our friends although the bus did not have disabled access. It's all fun.
 
I heard the ME system is not managed by disney - its managed by Mears? You could tell the difference. Next time I will use it to get to the hotel (I like watching the video etc) but I think on the way back we will get a taxi-I get too nervous otherwise!
