Hi

We are leaving in just over 3 weeks and I am starting to panic now.

I heard from a thread in the uk section that Cast Members are banned from the entrance hall. If so how do they collect our luggage? Also where do we go if they are not there?

I am so worried now that it will go wrong. I doubt we will get any tags as I spoke to Disney and they said not everyone receives them if so how do we know what we are meant to do. :confused3

Can we collect our own luggage and take it on the bus? Or is it safe to try and find the cast member and let them guide us to our bus and then we wait for our luggage 4-6 hours is a long time with toddlers. If we dont have the tags I am worried they wont be able to tell which ones are ours if they leave anything behind. Sorry to write such a long thread its panic stations for me. :scared1:

Please tell me your experiences or anyones thanks.

First, deep breaths....

Don't panic. Make sure you have a carryon for the esstentials for the first 4 hrs or so. Mine only took 3 hrs to arrive in my room.

If you don't recieve luggage tags just make sure you have some sort of very visable identifying marker...your own luggage tag, ribbon(though this could rip off), brightly colored luggage . After you arrive in the main terminal just head ot the first floor. At the check in counter state that you never recieved your tags and they will ask questions to make sure they are identified properly.

Then head off to your resort and have fun until your stuff arrives.

Unless you just have a single bag I would suggest having them deliver your bags. Though you are able to retrieve your own bags if you haven't put any of the special luggage tags on them.

It will be all right....

I leave in 27days...and i'm taken ME for the second time and can't wait..

If you clear customs in MCO, you'll have to pick up your bags to go through customs.

The DME desk in the A side of the building, one level below baggage claims. You don't really need a CM to guide you.

The CM "greeters" that are banned aren't the people picking up your luggage. They were simply there to direct you to the Magical Express check-in desk. Your tagged luggage is removed and placed on a ME truck before it even goes to the luggage carousels. The tag alerts the baggage handlers to put it in the ME truck, rather than letting it go out for pick-up.

Relax, relax!

When you exit the security area after getting off the airport tram, look to one side for a huge neon letter "A" on the wall a little above eye level. (On the other side wall is a huge neon "B").

If you need to clear customs, you will have to do that first. If you clear customs on the "B" side you would have to return to the top (third) level to cross over and you will again see the security gates and the big neon letters.

For Magical Express you want to go down to the lowest level on the "A" side. If you don't immediately see the Magical Express desk down there, it is just a bit tricky finding it. You would want to find bus parking space no. 30, peek outside every now and then as you walk down the carpeted hallway of Level 1. The Magical Express desk is on the inside wall in line with that space no. 30.

Now that I told you, you don't need the Disney CM with the huge white glove who used to greet you as you exited security.

All the other CM's who process your reservation and handle the luggage are not banned.

Even if the ban is lifted you should still have a small carry-on suitcase with you to bring your swimsuit, all your valuables, and things you will use for the remainder of your first day at Disney.

You do not have to wait in your room for your luggage, you can go to a park right away if you wish. If you are arriving at Disney in the morning or early afternoon, your room might not be ready. You would then have to keep any luggage you brought on the bus, or leave it with a bellhop. Valuables should be taken out and checked with the hotel central safe attendant.

Hi

Thank you ever so much for your help I can start breathing again LOL.

It doesnt sound as bad as I thought it was going to be. I havent flown to MCO since I was 13 since then been flying to Sfd. This time we are flying with Virgin and my dh hasnt been to MCO either. I started to panic.

I cant wait now. At least we do not have to pick our luggage up again. Unfortunately we do not land till 17:00 so we will go straight to the hotel and pretty much have some dinner and an early night for the children ready for the following day.

Thanks again it has really helped.

Regards
Michelle

Be sure to pack a days supplies in your carry on.

I wouldn't worry about Disney losing your luggage but if Virgin forgets to load it, you are 24 hours away from clean clothes LOL! When I travel within the US I don't do this, but I do when I get to Europe just in case it takes 24 hours for my luggage to catch the next plane!

You're panicking at 3wks out? I'm 4 days out and still no DME tags. :(

Why were they banned? Great... so now we have to just find our own way? I really would like to know why they were banned from giving us directions...

Okay I read it. I still don't understand why banned. I don't think they are soliciting business there- they are just directing those ALREADY SIGNED UP for DME and if they are saying only those already registered/etc can use DME then how are they soliciting business? When we went last time- all they did was round up those that were already going on DME and show us how to get there. I never saw anyone "soliciting" people to go with DME. You have to have the tickets (or if you didn't get them, be on their list already signing up your flight arrival/departure with DME) anyway, right? People can't just fly in to MCO without a word to Disney about using DME, see the guy with white gloves and follow him and use DME---- can they?

Ohwell, if they replace the CM with signs- that would suffice. Just trying to navigate right now without signs and without a CM directing you could be kinda difficult, IMO. We've already been once and I couldn't for the life of me remember how we got to the DME area.... wish me luck on finding it in the middle of the night Wed night. LOL

*edited to add- nevermind... I just saw the post on that thread that described how to get down there.. so hopefully I shouldn't have a problem finding it*
