Magical Express on late flights

Flight landed at 8:12pm. Just got bags at 12:41. Ugh. Maybe it's because I'm in Treehouses.

Either way, take note if you arrive in the evening- probably smart if you can grab your own bags. Unfortunately for us, with two young ones, that's not something that's very easy.

This is why you should pack anything you are going to need in the first few hours in your carry on.
I mean sure its still annoying for them to come with your luggage when you're probably trying to sleep but meh its just how it is.

3-4 hours is what Disney tells you to expect.
Often for me it does not take that long but a couple times it has.
Once was during the day and once was in the evening.
They pick up a lot of luggage. Some are gonna wait longer than others to get it.

At night it seems longer because you're generally in or closer to your room. Always pack 24+ hours worth of stuff both for "just in case" reasons and also so you can just put the do not disturb sign up and get bags the next morning.

When your flight landed doesn't matter. Disney aims to have your bags to you 3-4 hours of checking in at your resort. So you probably got to the resort around 9:30-10:00? They were right on schedule.

If you don't want that knock on the door late at night, tell the resort to hold your bags. When you are ready for them, call down, and they will bring them up.

Doesn't seem @sickshotbri was suggesting Disney was outside the window, but that it just stinks to have bags delivered so late. But I completely agree - ask bell services to just hold the stuff until the morning, if you can.

They posted when their flight landed, as if that had something to do with getting bags delivered so late. When it comes to getting your bags delivered in a timely manner, when your flight lands doesn't figure into it. When you are first at your resort does. Many posters think that when their flight lands starts the delivery clock ticking. That is not so! Just making sure anyone reading understands that.

I would say that it's entirely "normal". For others planning on ME and luggage delivery, here's the timeline that generally happens:

Time 0: Plane Lands
90 Minutes later: Arrive at Resort
3-4 hours after that: receive luggage.

The reason to have everything for 24 hours in your carry on/with you has nothing to do with DME and everything to do with you don't know 100% when (or if) the airlines will deliver your luggage to the destination airport.

Well, not to split hairs, but I'm curious now - my assumption is that as soon as they can they get your luggage and load it up on a bus and start the delivery process, for want of a better term. What if I sit at MCO for two hours? Maybe I'm waiting for co-travelers coming in from elsewhere? Maybe I shop for a long time. Maybe I shop and eat at MCO, etc. So I don't even get on the DME bus until two hours after I get off the plane. They aren't actually holding my luggage all that time, are they? My physical arrival at the resort has nothing to do with timing on when it's delivered, even though the rule of thumb is 3-4 hours after you check in because that's based on an assumption that most people are going as fast as they can to DME.

The 3-4 hours from check in is based on someone going directly from flight to DME to resort. Yes, I'd assume if you hang out at the airport, you wouldn't have to wait as long at the resort for your luggage.

Also FYI, the luggage doesn't go on the bus (unless a guest collects it themselves at baggage claim). They use trucks to get luggage between MCO and the resorts.

Three hours after you check in to your resort is the typical, expected time.

That is it exactly. When you land doesn't matter at all. The average time to get to your resort using DME is 90 minutes. So before 3 hours past that is up, you should have your luggage.

The OP landed at 8:12. Using the above formula Disney was right on time with their luggage delivery. Staying at the Treehouses didn't hold up the delivery, which is what is implied.
