Just on the phone booking ME for our Aug trip ,Its not a service we usually use but as my Dad is coming along & he is now disabled,i thought it would be easier & Quicker using ME!!! The cast member informed me that as of Jan this year no longer send out Luggage tags,,U either get the luggage yourself or tell the cast member when u check in for ME what your luggage looks like:scared1::scared1: What IF u ended up with the wrong luggage:scared1::scared1: & I'm sure IT could happen!!!!

Any thoughts on this or am overreacting:lmao:

I'm now having second thoughts using ME

mmmm!

When we last used ME we collected our bags and kept them with us but this might be a bit difficult for you with your Dad.

Doesn't fill you with confidence does it!

Don't worry - it is not just a matter of describing them and hoping they pick the right bags.

When you get to the DME desk they will ask if you have any luggage to be collected. If you do, you give then the receipts that you got in the UK for your bags - these have a barcode etc unique to each piece of luggage. The check in staff usually will have stuck these onto one of the passports.

They will also show you a card with different types of luggage on it - you just indicate which type/colour you have. This gives the handler an idea what to look for rather than check every piece of luggage as it comes past.

So armed with a description and a your unique codes the handler should not have any problem getting the correct luggage. I can't see it being a problem as even with the DME tags, these could have come off and then what would happen?

Yes the OP is correct they use the luggage tags and code your airline place on the bags. We always collect our cases ourselves and put them on the coach anyway - as I dont like the delay in them reaching your room.

I am going to put luggage straps with my name on as well so I hope it works.

same here

I am using ME 1st time this year, we are planning on collecting our own luggage and taking it with us, mainly because I have heard that you can have a long wait at the hotel for it to arrive.

I don't tag my luggage either. i tie a red ribbon to handles to help DH spot them on the carousel

I have used disney magic express 3 times and always let them take the luggage, its in the room when I get back from dinner. Last time we had someone else's luggage as well (we moved to get interconnecting rooms) took it back and got the rollout bed free for the 2 weeks so the girls didn't have to share a bed.

We were never told that we wouldn't get luggage tags for our April trip, so when we arrived we collected our cases ourselves and took them with us to the bus. The guys at the ME desk were surprised when I said we hadn't received tags. :confused3 After a long day, I never thought about just giving them the barcode tickets!

We have used ME twice now and love it, and will definately be using this service again. :thumbsup2
