I just saw a post that said you have to get your own suitcases at the airport and take them to the magical Express bus. Is this true? I thought we wouldn't have to mess with suitcases at the airport at all. Please clarify this for me. We don't want to get to our resort and say "oh no" where are our suitcases?

when we booked we were told we had to get our cases BUT that is because we are flying in from outside the US
that could have been what you seen?

We were told with our yellow tags that it would be taken care once we got into MCO and went to the resort and that our suitcases would be taken to our rooms for us. Sounds good to me to be able to get off the plane and go straight to ME and not have to wait for our suitcases.

According to Disney's web site, you do not need to claim your bags. You just have to use their special luggage tags, and they'll do the rest:

If you take DME back to the airport at the end of your trip, sometimes they can check your bags for you... and sometimes you have to take them to the airport and do it yourself. That depends on whether you're flying with a participating airline...but I don't think it makes a difference when you're headed *to* Disney.

We've used it 3 separate times, and 3 separate times we haven't had to touch our luggage after we checked in at our home airport until they "magically" appeared in our room later that day.

You only have to handle them yourself at the end of your trip, if you aren't flying one of their preferred airlines that allows at-resort check-in. We fly Southwest which does not yet allow for at-resort bag check in - so we have to schlepp the bags to the bus, and then get them into the terminal ourselves.

As far as I know the only time people have to get there own luggage is if they are flying in from outside the US.

when i booked my trip through AAA, i did not have to touch my luggage in the airport.

when i booked my trip through american airlines vacation (twice, 3 years apart) i was told there was a "problem" and i had to claim my own luggage or *totally* make a Big Noisy Fuss with a whole bunch of people to make sure my luggage was picked up and brought to my room. so not worth it. AAA totally took care of it and made sure everything was booked and taken care of. american airlines had their heads up their behinds and did not seem to care that the whole "magical express" thing was turning out to not be "magical" at all, unless turning me into Grumpy counts as "magical."

so anyway, i think it depends on who you book with. and if you get a letter, like i did, saying that the magical express thing isnt going to happen, make a Big Noisy Fuss and insist that they make it happen.
