Magical Express - how much time do you really need?

I am trying to gauge whether Magical Express worth is it for a 4:30 am pick up for a 7:30 am flight, or if I just get an UBER to avoid that super early pick up time.

I see that Disney reverted the Magical Express pick up times to 3 hours prior to your flight. If I have a 7:30 am flight (TSA pre-check with carryons) meaning I have a 4:30 am Magical Express pick up, how much time do you think we'll be sitting at our gate?

More time than you'll probably want...in my opinion airport time moves backwards so a 2 hour wait feels like 23908759328475904328750932478509234875 hours

I would get an Uber. At the time of the morning you won't need 3 hours, esp with pre-check and no luggage to check.

No way would I take ME at that hour. I don't take it ever but for sure I wouldn't take it at that hour. Take Uber, you'll be in total control and won't have any worries about how many stops ME will make, etc

I usually take ME for our return, even though we have precheck and it gets us there way too early, but I would NOT take it at that hour, I would just Uber.

Keep in mind that you need to leave yourself enough time to check your bags once you get to the airport. With a departure that early in the morning you won't be able to check your bags at the resort.

What’s the earliest you can check your bags at the resort?

5AM, but it also has to be at least 3 hours prior to your flights departure.

Our flight is for 6:10pm, but we plan to check out and then Rope Drop AK, head back to Yacht at 2pm for our 3pm DME ride to MCO. I planned to do RAC before we left at like 6am.

OP said they have carry on bags, nothing to check.

Did you happen to notice the bold in the OPs post? Not an issue

I'm sure MCO has a whole bunch of flights that leave between the hours of 6:30-10am... I would get there 2 hours early.

What day of the week is it? My local airport is small but if its a Monday and sometimes a weekend during those early hours, its pretty busy. Business travelers and people starting vacations, etc. If you're flying Southwest by chance, they should start boarding around 7am. We always try to be at our gate 30 minutes early if flying Southwest for that reason.

Just keep in mind that many airlines start boarding as early as 30 minutes prior to the flight departure time, I would plan on being at your gate no later than 7am which means that you should arrive at the airport no later than 6am, anything past that is cutting it close..

That puts you leaving about 5:30. Still later than ME

This is true. I specifically referenced Southwest as boarding 30 minutes prior because of the open seating policy. I've arrived at a Southwest gate after they have already started boarding and missed my A boarding position. I was able to board immediately, but didn't get my choice of seat because of it.

We have done those super early DME pickups twice. I loved it. So quiet, dark, easy. The airport was buzzing, and I am glad I had the extra time. But, the wait and the ride to the airport was so calm...much nicer than during the day in traffic.
