Do you clear customs at MCO? If so you have to grab your bags and go through customs. You have the option of using the DME tags to avoid having to pick up your bags at the second carousel.

Do you pre-clear customs before you arrive at MCO? If so you can use the DME tags and your bags will "magically" appear in your hotel room.

We have just booked the Magical Express for our next trip so I am interested to know what happens with your luggage at MCO. I have never been to this airport so am not sure what you have to do.

You collect your bags the first time at MCO and you go through customs, you then put the bags back on the belts as normal and then you dont collect them again, the bags are picked up and taken to your hotel rooms for you. You should have special tags for your bags. I think you have to register for this, it is not automatically done. When we went last Novemeber we didnt register and we picked up the bags as normal. Personally I think its not really worth doing, you are only saving yourself picking up the bags the final time and I have heard from other people that it can take up to 6 hours to get your bags to the room, I like to unpack as soon as I get there!

I did it in September. Got to my room, went out and came back at 10pm to find my case there. Much easier.

"International travelers with Orlando International Airport as their first point of entry will be given instructions on their flight about the U.S. Customs and Border Protection process. You will claim your luggage and complete the entry procedure. Once you are able to pass through to the main terminal, a Disney representative will meet you to assist you in getting to the Disney Magical Express area. You may transfer your luggage to the Baggage Claim area and have Disney bring it to the resort or you may want to keep it with you."

I agree with Jen UK. We have got this for next year and I plan on picking up our suitcases to make sure they are on the same bus as ourselves. Can't imagine anything worse than sitting waiting for the suitcases when you are desperate to get out of travelling clothes to freshen up. Plan on dropping them off at Virgin check in on the return journey and catching the ME bus back to the airport as well if its doesn't go too early. However, reading in the new unofficial guide it looks like security can take a while at MCO on the return journey.
