i wanted to rent from a dvcer, for a 2 bdrm bcv for 1 wk.., he stated a $95 charge for the magical express to pick up from airport .. ive rented a studio before and stayed onsite and thought magical exp was always free... is there a charge sometimes??for 9/2011
Disney's Magical Express is a free service, and it has been since it was launched five years ago.
When an RCI member trades
in to a DVC resort, they are charged a $95 fee. Because most other RCI-affiliated timeshare resorts do not charge an inbound fee, DVC Member Services tends to justify the fee by saying that it's for WDW Transportation, resort services, Magical Express, and so on -- even though the DVC member who traded
out into RCI already paid for such services through annual dues.
Here's what I think is going on here: The person you're talking to is not a DVCer who is legitimately renting out room nights that he booked with his DVC points. The person obtained the reservation through RCI and is now attempting to rent it out
in violation of RCI and DVC rules. Under such circumstances, RCI and DVC can cancel the reservation if they find out what he's doing. Because DVC is charging him $95, he wants to recover the $95.
The other possibility is that he's a legitimate DVCer, but that he wants to make an additional $95 profit. He might feel that if DVC can get away with it, so can he.
