Me is included with a WDW resort stay. Are you thinking of an airline checked baggage fee? That would depend on who you fly with and be independent of ME.

when we left this past january, we had to call MEARS and pay a fee before hand, otherwise they wouldnt take the bags. the fee was more than the cost of checking the bags directly with delta... however this time around, i think the cost might be worth it.

does anyone recall, i want to say its $30-40??

I hate to say this but you may have been overcharged by mears. Giving them the benefit of the doubt (only because they are working with disney) the person on the phone probably didn't know what he/she was doing. There is no information about surcharges for charging the baggage fees ahead of time for guests. On your next trip get your airline's baggage fees in writing and then when you have to call Mears about the DME baggage check in fees you will have written proof of the information.

At one time you had to call RAC (not Mears) the day before your flight to pay airline fees to check your bags.

At least with some airlines you had to pay the charge that was applicable if you paid at the airport. You weren't able to pay the (slightly) discounted fee normlly charged to passengers who pay online.

$30-$40 sounds about right to check two bags.

Honestly I carry my own bags to the airport for my own wish to make sure they make it to the airport. I am pulling most of the information up on Disney's website about what fees maybe regarding the bags. The site purely states that the fees are whatever the airlines charge at the airport (not online). This year I am blessed with flying with an airline that is on the b side of the airport so getting my bags will not be too much of a hassle like before.

thanks for all the help everyone :) and insight! It was RAC that I had to call ahead of time. I'm budgetting everything out before our next trip... worst case scenerio i'll just pay at the airport. the $2 convenience discount of paying online is a joke.

Well, the only downside is that if you want to check your bags at your resort and have them taken to the airport so you dont have to worry about it, then you have to pay before hand via RAC or BAGS or whoever. If you want to drag your bags with you to MCO and then pay, then there would be a tip expected to the bus driver for loading and unloading your bags at MCO off the DME bus.
