This might be old news (or not unexpected anyway), but Kenny the Pirate blogged that starting 7/1, WDW will no longer mail reservation confirmation collateral for the DME. Guests will be utilizing MagicBands or MagicMobile. Guests without Bands or MagicMobile would need to check in at the Welcome Center. This will impact our upcoming trip. Maybe improve the long lines I often hear about…..;)

There has to be a fair savings on postage, labor, and letterhead and envelopes by not mailing the info, realized either by Disney or Mears. With this service soon coming to an end, who knows what other changes there will be to DME, before the end of the year.

I was shocked they still mailed things, most businesses have bailed on mailing items like this.

Will there be any printable* web page (perhaps in My Disney Expeirence) with the confirmation of a Magical Express reservation as made in advance? Would the room reservation stand for a DME reservation? Or would the guest's word suffice as the DME confirmation upon arrival at the welcoming area.

* Requires more than pressing the Prt-Scn button.

2021 and people still expect a paper reservation in the mail? Just hard to understand. Mobile, Magic band. Pretty simple. I guess for some may be not. For a system completely going away, be surprised if any support other than basic functions continues.

Previously the mailed reservation also included the luggage tags which they don't send any more, so no need to mail anything. You get an email confirmation anyway.

My question is, without luggage tags, do they not collect our luggage for us and deliver it to our resort room? I know that ends Dec 31, 2021, but understood it would continue until then. So do we need to collect our luggage at the airport carousel at MCO, take it to ME checkin, collect it again from the bus driver at our resort, etc. And again, has airline checkin already gone away? So essentially, all we are doing is riding a free bus effective July 1. The best part of Magical Express was the luggage handling and delivery, and airline checkin for return trip.

This makes sense. I just booked ME today for our trip in August and got an email confirmation. The paperwork doesn't seem necessary.

On a side note, should I be able to see my ME reservation in DME? If so, where?

You need to collect your luggage.

Luggage service, both inbound at the airport and RAC checkin at your hotel, was discontinued when the pandemic began.

So yes, you are riding a free bus.

Thanks for the reply. I guess I thought it just quit during the time when so much was closed, and returned to its previous glory now until end of year. I WAS looking forward to my ME experience for my Sept & Dec trips. Last nostalgic rides. Now, just a free bus. So sad. End of a happy time.

Seems like Disney is just dropping the ball on this for the rest of the year. People won't have magic bands or know how to use the app to retrieve this information. I like the printing option mentioned above. My confirmation shows asmusic which isn't open. I'll have to call and fix that. I was hoping it would be corrected in the mailed confirmation. All of this just in time for the 50th crowds.

I saw a few posters mentioned getting an email confirmation. I didn't get an email confirmation when we booked our DME - should I be concerned? I know that the flight info is in there because we ended up changing the resort we were reserved at and the email confirmation for that change had a link to click to add our flight info. When I clicked it all the flight info was there from when I had input it before we switched resorts.

No, you don't need to be concerned.

I got an email from Magical Express, dated June 25, telling me to expect a letter approximately 7 days before my trip.

You also can't leave your luggage on your front porch for magical delivery.
There are services which will pick up your luggage at home and ship it to your destination.

There is at least on service which collects your luggage from baggage claim and delivers them to a location you specify.

I don't think you need to mail the confirmation but you could include it with the packet -- you know those, Your (last name) Magical Vacation... -- but I haven't gotten one for my upcoming trip so maybe they aren't doing those anymore either. I also haven't gotten one from DCL -- maybe because they've discontinued them or they just think it's unlikely to sail.
