Magical Express but no tags!

First time staying onsite vs our condo and we had a miscommunication with the travel agent. They got us on DME however not far enough out to allow time to get the yellow tags to attach to luggage.

Soooo - how does this work? Do I need to be paranoid about not having my luggage??

If you want to be sure just pick up your bags from baggage claim yourself and take them to the bus.

Will I then need to take them to my room? Or do I take them somewhere to checkin?

You will have to take care of the bags,or contact concierge when you get to your resort if you don't plan on going straight to your room.

From the handy dandy Transportation forum here, hiding in the sticky thread titled Disney's Magical Express--Luggage Tag Info, is the following:

I haven't gotten my tags yet!

Never fear. You have two options. You can claim your bags like normal, or you can have Disney claim them for you as if you did have those yellow tags. Bypass baggage claim, and go straight to the Welcome Center. From there, give the Cast Member your luggage claim tickets. They will create replacement tags for you, find your bags, tag them, and send them to your resort.

Of course, this assumes your plane lands before 10pm. And if it's before 10 but you don't want the luggage people delivering 3ish hours after you GET to your hotel, consider collecting them and having them on the bus with you.

Keep your tickets to claim them and tell magical express about it. They will write the number down. Might take longer than Normal so prepare. That's how I did it for my trip.

Grab your bags. Stick them under the bus. Drop them at the resort concierge. Grab them you get your room.

When do you leave? Your TA can call ME and request a "reprint" of tags and have them shipped directly to your home if you are 10+ days out. Inside that timeframe, just grab your stuff. After all of our trips, I like having my bags especially when the ratio of afults to kids is in my favor so its not a terrible problem. ME is not foolproof when it comes to sending tags!

We had same issue in May. Got our own luggage off at baggage claim and took to DME. Took only 5 minutes to claim bags as nearly all bags from flight were pulled by Disney ahead of going on baggage claim. So our bags came out in a jiffy! I was worried they would go round and round on the carousel waiting for someone from Disney to get our claim tickets and walk down there to get the bags. Easy and you have your bags right away.
