So the current conversation about our upcoming trip is if we should use the baggage service on ME or not. In the past we have done it both ways and they seem to both have Pros and Cons.
So what do people think- have them deliver to the room, or get your own bags from baggage claim and bring them with you?

We have them delivered and use RAC when going home.

Not having to claim our bags at the airport is one of the reasons why we use ME. So nice to just get off the plane and head downstairs. Just make sure to pack anything that you might want immediately in your carry-ons.

:laundy:Like posted above it depends if you need your bags right away. If not, go with the ME. Just make sure you have what you need right away, perscriptions, ect. I ve had to wait several hours for my bags. Have a great trip

Not having to pick up our bags is one of the luxuries of a Disney vacation! We always have a swimsuit, medications, and other important items in our carry-on, so we don't really mind how long it takes to get our luggage. The only situation when I think I would consider getting the luggage myself would be a late arrival at MCO. Even then, I probably would put sleepwear in the carry-on and just wait for the luggage!

:)My sentiments exactly!

Since we always arrive very late in the evening from California, we have picked up our own bags and taken them to the bus. It has never been too much of a hassle, so we will continue to do that. We bring them to the bus and we have our bags when we check-in. We always check-in our bags at the resort and LOVE LOVE LOVE that. It is such a feeling of freedom to leave our bags at the resort. I suppose it would feel double great if we could do both ends, but when we get to the resort at 11 pm or so, the last thing we want to do is wait 2 hours for our bags.

We always use the bag service of ME except for 1 bag. we pick up 1 bag and bring it on the bus so that we know we have what we need that 1st night just in case.

And I also enjoy leaving the bags with the airlines at the resort for my trip home. It is so much easier than lugging them about.

I'm planning my very first DVC trip this fall. One question about this. If I have a late flight coming home (7 pm)after we checout of our rooms, we can just check the bags in with the airlines at the resort and still have some Disney fun post-checkout??

Yes, if your airlines participates in the Remote Airlines Check In program, (RAC).

Is there a list somewhere of which airlines participate in RAC? I'm assuming Virgin America does not since I think they just started going to Orlando (I think).

We did that this spring. Flight home was 8:00 pm. You have to check your bags by 1:00 for airline check-in. Our carry-on we check in at Bell's services then just pick it up before getting on the bus. Very easy to do.

I let ME handle the bags (and RAC on the reverse side). So it's jsut the carry-on (which is lighter since we have a change of clothes and swim gear in our Owners Locker.

We have really being trying to do carry ons so we can have our stuff with us on ME. One time we didn't and they came at 2am! Woke us all up, not fun!

If my flight was early enough I would be ok not having a carry on, but anytime after 7pm I am doing a carry on!

We always wear our first days clothes and bring one carryon with a few items we may need, we check in and head to a park (room is rarely ready anyway) and the bags show up in the room before we get back. No sense wasting time and effort waiting for bags at the airport first.

Then we check our bags and get boarding passes on our last morning. Then its lunch at EPCOT and no bag worries-just get on ME when time, then walk to the gate.
