Magical express after switching resort reservation

My wife and I switched our resort reservation from the contemporary to the grand Floridian. We have already received our magical express paperwork and yellow luggage tags. Has anybody else ever done this before? I called customer care and they said it would be fine and that they don’t read the resort name on the yellow luggage tag. I just wanted to know if anybody has ever done this and had it go smoothly (or poorly!)

They've seen it all!! If you're really worried you can take a sharpie & black out the resort & write your new resort on the sticker, but your bags will arrive at the correct resort & is tied to your current ressie, which is GF.

Thanks so much. I feel better now!

We did this last trip, switched from Pop to Boardwalk for our last night, and it created issues despite my calling twice to confirm. We never received the ME paperwork the night before and had to scramble at 10 pm to get a reservation. Hopefully it won’t create any issues for you! Perhaps ask at check in to ensure they have you in the system for the ride back to MCO as well.

Thanks. I will definitely do that. On the phone they said my magical express was now showing grand floridian. I am less worried about that and more worried my luggage could get sucked into the void.

Assuming the reservation number is the same, just black out and rewrite the resort name.

Also, make sure the change is updated in DME’s system, not just WDTC/DD.

DME 1-866-599-0951‬

Disney Reservations will tell you it’s a-ok until DME wants to put you in the wrong bus line because the changes didn’t transfer properly. It’s just not fun to stand to side while they sort it out...

Oh great tip! I will make sure to call MDE directly and see that they have the change. Thanks so much!

We have done this before and it worked out fine. Its my understanding that DME scans the bar codes on the yellow tags to determine where they go, and by doing that, it will show them your updated reservation.

If you still have time before you go, you can also complete the DME form online with your new information. I believe one of the fields asks if you've previously submitted your information to DME, so you're essentially updating it. Each time I have submitted the online form, I have gotten tags within a week or two, so they may send you updated ones by doing that.

Replying again! I called MDE directly and they’re said they will be sending me new luggage tags with the updated resort. Thanks for this tip. I’m pretty sure it would have been fine but I feel much better knowing I’ll have an updated tag!
