I don't know if the subject "magical disney bus transportation" refers to Disney's Magical Express (motorcoach service between the airport and the WDW resorts) or the Walt Disney World bus system (bus service within Walt Disney World). I'm happy with both.

The Magical Express motorcoaches have individual seats like airplanes. It's a little tight, but it's not a long ride. I've certainly never felt "packed like sweaty sardines."

My biggest complaint with the Walt Disney World bus system is that I've had excessive waits a few times (such as a full hour once waiting for a bus from Typhoon Lagoon to OKW), but usually I've marveled at how little time I had to wait for a bus. And I've had to stand a few times if I boarded a bus right after a park closed, but that's no big deal. The driver turns up the air conditioning when the buses are full, so there may have been a few times when I was somewhat of a refrigerated sardine, but not a sweaty sardine.

Overall, it beats driving.

I believe that the OP was actually referring to disney transportation, not DME, as they state to and from the parks. That can be crowded and filled with sweaty people.
I've used DME 3 times also and have not found the busses to be crowded, but they have been full on a number of occassions.

After reading this and your Pop thread, it sounds like you sure are hard to please. If you decide to go to WDW again, I hope you have a better time and luck next time. Have a magical day.

Sorry miss read..

I was there last week also, stayed at BWV. We only rode the busses once, on Monday night to MK. Coming back we were packed tight and were standing holding onto to the poles while dead tired. I wouldn't call that magical either. Used the rental car the rest of the week to MK, AK and Downtown Disney. Luckily at BW you can walk or boat to Epcot & MGM. Got a nice car from National for $105 incl tax, well worth it.

Even though I thoroughly disagree with your post you made on the resort board about your experience with the value resorts, I do agree about the buses.

I wish they could come up with a better arrangement for getting to the parks. I don't like waiting in a long line for a bus, then have to stand packed like sardines. Maybe they could increase the number of buses that go from the resorts to the parks?

I've often wondered- what exactly would WDW do if more and more people refused to stand packed like sardines in the busses and waited for another bus to sit... therefore the lines would be longer (ofcourse) and more people would be complaining about the long lines/etc. I wonder if that is what it would take for them to get more buses running or something. I wonder about these things.
I'm sure as long as the majority are fine with being packed in like sardines hanging on for dear life (standing) they'll keep on doing it. Only a few times with the value resorts were there ever long lines at any park or at the resorts- so I'm sure in their mind they are keeping up with "demand". No lines means they are keeping up with demand. Maybe if more people refused to travel that way the lines would be longer for awhile and they'd be like oh we need more buses going to this and that resort- the lines are huge. LOL

No doubt you read that here, I have! I have also read many posts like yours from people who don't like the bus service. The more research you do the better decisions you make.

When I go with my dd's as the solo adult we use WDW transportation as I don't feel comfortable driving. We are prepared to stand or wait for another bus, use the boat or monorial when we can and use the buses at off hours if we can.

OTOH after one day of using WDW transportation when my dh was with us he knew that wasn't something he was comfortable with so we went to the car care center and rented for the rest of that trip. We now always rent when dh is with us, bus when he isn't.

June is a very crowded time of year. It's no doubt that the buses will be pretty full. But when you take into consideration that transportation is FREE, I see no reason to raise cane over it.

Are the buses full and packed full during the peak, busy times of year? Sure they are...but other than park closings, I have yet to feel like a sweaty sardine in a bus. We tend to get to the parks very early (about an hour before opening) or later in the morning. And at the end of the day, we either stay late in the park and let the crowds dissapate or leave before it closes.

Otherwise, you can rent a car...that's what lots of folks do that don't want to be tied to the free WDW transportation.

As others have said, rent a car.

I always stay at the All Stars and I for one think they do a wonderful job with transportation.

I just came over from that "beer guzzling redneck" thread. :rotfl2: Hope the OP has a magical stay at the GF next time! :rotfl: Some people are hard to please.

take it for what it is - not what you hope it is.

it is free public transportation. ever taken public transportation before? specifically busses in the summer at rush hour? that is what you are gonna get.

it is not a luxury personal transport system. you aren't paying for that kind of service.

i dont mind it because i know what to expect. if (and i have) i don't feel like dealing with the bad parts of the free service, i rent a car or drive down and have my own car with me.

general rule of thumb - if i am visiting at a peak to moderate time, i get my own car to get around. if i am visiting at a slower time, i use the busses.
