MAGICal Christmas 2008 - December 20, 2008

Hey Everyone!

Paul -- I did order the christmas "centerpiece" tree and room decorations from DCL. I got my credit card bill today and the charge already went through.

Lissa -- I hope y'all have a safe drive down. We'll be at Epcot the evening of Dec. 18. Maybe we could meet up for a quick hello. Are you staying on property? We're at the Beach Club Villas.

Safe travels to anyone travelling this week. Happy Thanksgiving to all!

Did we decide what day we wanted to all wear our shirts and / or try to get a group picture? If we don't have a designated day for the shirts, I was planning for us to wear ours on Monday as it is a Sea Day. The ornament exchange and digital scavenger hunt are scheduled for Monday morning (9:30 and 10:00). What do you all think about day / time for doing a picture? Or at least a common day to wear our shirts?

Monday sounds good to me. Joe and I have brunch reservation at 11, but we could put our shirts on for the picture.

Carly wants to do the digital scavenger hunt while we're at brunch, if one of the other teenage girls wants to go with her. We won't let her wander the ship alone. -- I know, we're horrible parents!

Please send healing pixies our way. Carly re-injured her ankle at dance last week and has been on crutches again. She had an MRI yesterday and we're waiting the results. It could mean surgery before the cruise.

Tenya - please keep us posted about Carly - I hope she won't need surgery and that she'll have healed before the cruise.

I was just thinking that next week we should start getting our cruise docs!

KathyFP - do you have your cabin assignment yet?

Wow I can't believe how fast the cruise is coming! Is everyone planning on ordering shirts? I think that we have decided to skip the shirts to save some money even though I love them! Does anyone know the number to call for a listing of the movies that will be playing on our cruise??

:flower3: Carly! I am so sorry to hear about the crutches and all! I hope the MRI comes back good and you will be running on Castaway Cay!

All is well here. My Christmas pictures are in and I almost have everything ready for Thanksgiving - it looks like around 20 people - fun fun! We are going to Disney on Ice on Saturday to get us in the mood for our trip - I am so excited!

The kids school pictures came in this week as well - all year and so few picts. now I have School, Christmas and all the Vacation photos within a month!

Here is a cute picture that they took with both Anna & AJ - I thought they all came out well - now I just have to decide how many to order!

Happy Thanksgiving All!

Hi everybody!!

Just a little over three weeks to go!!!:cool1: I can't believe we are so close!
I have some last minute shopping to do and I need to pack the rest of the suitcases! I am so behind from where I was at by this time on the last cruise!:scared: We have all our FE gifts, Christmas decorations and the kids clothes. I need to buy Secret Santa gifts, and clothes for myself and DH.

We are putting up our Christmas tree on Wednesday, I have to work on Thanksgiving, have my best friends Thanksgiving to go to on Friday, and another quiceneara to go to on Saturday. This one will be 100% Spanish speaking (good thing I am fluent in Spanish:rolleyes: ) with lots of bling bling!!:lmao: I am tired already just thinking about all this!!:sad2:

I think Monday sounds great to wear our t-shirts for a group picture!! We can take it around activity time!

Tenya, I am so sorry to hear about Carly's ankle!:sad1: I know how much dance means to her! I will tell Morgan to call her and see how she is feeling. I hope it turns out to be nothing and that she will NOT need surgery.

I have the next two nights off and I hope to get DH to make out door signs and our family "business cards". He is a HUGE procrastinator and will probably leave it until the night before we leave!:headache: His philosophy is "why do today what you can put off until tomorrow" and I am the EXACT opposite. I love to be prepared and ready with LOTS of "to do" lists!:lmao:

However we decide to get to the Dolphin excursion is fine with us! Just let us know what to do!

For all you northerners who are already getting lots of snow, I am so sorry! I remember those days and hated every one of them (we are originally from Michigan). I haven't seen snow in 5 years and don't miss it for ONE second! We are still in the 80's here in the south of Texas and the kids are still wearing shorts to school!

Well, I have to go pick the kids up from school now, so everyone have a GREAT Thanksgiving!

Shannon

Tenya we won't be at EPCOT unitl the 19th otherwise I'd love to meet even for a minute or two. We can not leave on the 18th until i get off from work so it will be a long night. I hope carly's ankle heals quickly and thta everything turns out ok for her.

Monday sounds like a good day to wear our shirts and try and get a group picutre. Especially since we have a couple of activities planned for that day.

Tenya -

Hope there'e no surgery in DD's future!

Hello Everyone!
Long time no write. Hope everyone has a terrific Turkey Day. Would you all think we were terrible party poopers if we didn't buy shirts? I really hope not. I'm spending all of my spare time putting vacation plans together. Our FE gifts have gotten pretty time consuming. I actually have one small one for embarkation day and one for Christmas Day. Can I assume that we all celebrate Christmas? I don't want to offend anyone. I work at a public library in a very diverse area and we have as many people who celebrate Hannukah as Christmas here so I try to be sensitive to that situation. Hanukkah begins on Dec 21 and Kwanzaa on Dec 26. If anyone on the FE list doesn't please let me know and I will gift appropriately.
If anyone can't make it to the kickoff of the scavenger hunt, I'll have sheets available on my cabin door for you to pick-up at a later time.
Cheers!

Coincidentally Michelle(DW) our friend Tom and I have reservations for Brunch at Palos at 11AM also! :cool1:

It is looking like a Disney Boards mini reunion...

Good Morning Everyone!
First of all, I hope everything goes with with Carly's MRI. We will be thinking of you.

Lissa, we are driving down from PA so we have a really long night too. I am trying to get dh to leave after work on the 18th and drive a little to a hotel and then drive the rest on the 19th to our hotel near the port. He doesn't want to spend two nights in a hotel so he thinks we can drive all day (16 hours) on the 19th if we leave at like 4 in the morning. Hopefully I can win this battle.

This weekend we are going to put up our Christmas decorations. I am putting up everything but the tree. We usually get a big tree and with us being gone I just don't want to go there. However, I still want it to feel like the holidays so we are going to get the rest of the decorations out.

I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving.

Angie

Glad to know were not the only ones driving a long distances. We did decide last to leave earlier in the day on the 18th. We will probable drive till about Saint Augustine or Flager and spend the night there then get up the next morning and driving the last little bit. That way we are not to exhausted to enjoy the day.

For Fe gifts we've got bags for embarkation day, priate night, Christmas eve, and Christmas day. If someone doesn't celebrate christmas let me know soon please and i'll deliver your bags on the appropriate days.

Hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving.

Lissa

Happy Thanksgiving! I have not done "baggies" for the FE, but I have lots of little things that we will be putting out almost everyday throughout the trip. I agree that knowing if someone isn't celebrating Christmas would help, so that someone doesn't get offended.

I actually got some packing done last night. I got the twins packed except for the missing items like an extra pair of dress pants, and a few extra shirts. My 16 year old daughter was very distraught when she was faced with the fact that she only got to bring one big suitcase on one carryone, but I think she will come to my terms sooner or later. :lmao:

I broke down and ordered t-shirts for the day at Sea. We originally purchased sweatshirts and not t-shirts - now we will have both!

I cannot wait until we receive our documents, it will seem real then!!!

I send Carly our best, hopefully everything will heal on its own!

Anyone doing the Jeep excursion in Cozumel? Or the Nautilus in the Caymans? Look out, I cannot wait to get rum cake and that yummy sounding ice cream!!!

Enjoy the long weekend, eat lots of Turkey and don't get in any fights shopping on Black Friday! :rotfl2:

Lissa - I'm a dope, we're not going to be at Epcot until the evening of the
19th either. We have dinner ressies at Teppan Edo.

It sounds like we're going to have a party at brunch on Sunday. It should be fun.

We're still waiting to hear about Carly's MRI results. I'm hoping we hear something today, but I don't expect too. Thanks everyone for the good thoughts.

Shannon, I'm probably going to have to cancel Carly's Wild Side Excursion. Even if she doesn't have to have surgery, I don't think she'll be up to all the activity. I'll let you know after Thanksgiving. Have fun at your quiencinera.

Renee, Anna and AJ's picture is precious. I can't wait to meet them.

We're decorating over the weekend. Since Carly can't help she's going to sit on the couch and watch while she puts our FE bags together.

Happy Thanksgiving to all!

Hey everyone - and a HAPPY (early) THANKSGIVING to everyone!!!

I survived the overnight SeaWorld trip with the 6th graders and it really was a lot of fun!!! Sleeping in the manatee exhibit was very peaceful!!!

The girls had their final cheer competition for this season, and Emily's team (the team that I coach) got 1st place!! I was so proud of those 10 girls. They performed better than I have EVER seen them!!! And, Emily was selected to be on our off-season Elite cheer squad, where she'll cheer with girls up to 10 yrs old. They even have a cheer competition at Disney in the spring.:cheer2:

I really need to get on ordering my CafePress stuff. We don't have brunch scheduled for Monday, but Chris and I have scheduled one of the spa villas - couples choice for our 10th anniversary. So, I'll have to pick up the scavenger hunt stuff later. But, I will be wearing my t-shirt on Monday!!!

Prayers and crossed-fingers that Carly's MRI comes out ok. I hope that she doesn't have to go into surgery!!!

For Cozumel, I think that we're going to head over to Chankanaab early, to enjoy the park some. I think that the girls would like it!!!

I'm working on getting my house clean for tomorrow's dinner, and I'm hoping to get the Christmas tree up this weekend too, along with all of the outside lights.

Since our anniversary is the 19th, our plan is to leave as soon as school is over on Friday. We have dinner ressies at Artist Point at WL and the girls have an evening scheduled in the Cub's Den too. Then, we'll head over to the port in the morning.

I can't believe that it's getting SO close now!!!

I finished our FE gifts. I did one bag for each cabin. I noticed that a lot of you have different things for different days. It is okay that mine is all in one bag? I was going to have me and the girls deliver them on Monday (sea day).

Angie

Just doing a super quick check-in so you don't think we've jumped ship. ;)

We're still living out of boxes to some degree, but we've finally got everything out of our old house. I thought having a couple of weeks overlap would make things easier... not so! I can't tell you how many times we had to run between houses because someone absolutely had to have something from the other house.
Not exactly my most organized move.

Then, what was supposed to be a quick trip to the dentist yesterday turned into a 3 hour root canal for me. :scared:
I told my doc I had to be good to go by cruise time and the only way we could work that into both our schedules was to get started yesterday.

So now I get to fix a big Thanksgiving dinner I can barely eat. :sad2:
Oh well, I'll have to make up for it on the cruise. That shouldn't be a problem. :thumbsup2

We're doing our FE gifties just one delivery per cabin too. I know we've got a manageable size group, but it still takes awhile to trek all over the ship dropping things off.

Are we going to have one cabin where any last minute room changes can be posted? (late gty assignments, upgrades, etc) Last time we did a FE exchange the organizer posted those updates on her cabin door and that seemed to work out well. Everyone just checked her room before starting deliveries.

Excited to cruise... but feeling way behind in the planning department here!
