What am I missing if I don't book my vacation package with magic your way? Do I just not get the discount booklet for mini golf and disneyquest, blah blah..
If I book room only and then add 4 day tickets with park hopper, its cheaper for me this way then to get it in the magic you way package. Would I still get magical express tickets to get from the airport to the resort?

Your misuse of terminology is making it difficult for me to understand exactly what you are asking.

I think you are asking what is the difference between booking a vacation package ( room plus tickets) and booking a room only reservation and then buying your tickets separately. Is this right?

With a package, you would also get a booklet with a few vouchers for discounted sports activities. You would have to pay $200 deposit, with the balance due 30 days before your check in day. You would be eligible to use ME.

With a room only reservation, that's all you get. You would pay a deposit equal to one nights stay at your resort, with the balance due when you chevk in.You buy your tickets separately, either from Disney or a 3rd party reseller. You would be eligible for ME.

ME doesn't use tickets or vouchers. They use the MBs, which would be shipped to you if you live in the US.

I actually don't think it is misuse of terminology. The other day I requested a quote from a travel agent and I too was confused. They asked me to choose from Magic Your Way Package, Room Only or Room Only plus tickets reservation. I too was confused about the difference.

Alas, i live in Canada, and have to wait to get to the resort to get the magic bands, and have only ever had the vouchers to get on that bus.
And yes, I normally go MYW, and knew i could do room only, but an agent i was talking to.. for sh*ts and giggles, was confused, and thus confused me too

I just replied to my quote asking what the difference between Magic Your Way and Room Only plus ticket reservation is. I will let you know if/when I hear back!

I haven't needed to worry about getting MBs ahead of time because we've driven down the last few times. But I remember seeing on either the Canadian or Transportation board that there was a booklet that came with the ME luggage tags. In that booklet was a page that had a bar code or something scannable to use to get on ME. But there was also a thread not too long ago that said they aren't including that booklet any more. You might try asking about this on the Canadian board.

I've never heard of a RO+ tickets reservation. I thought that automatically made it a package (if you bought and paid for them together). Maybe this is something new.

This is the reply I received from the TA, not sure why they list the room only plus ticket reservations as an option when requesting a quote when (like I thought, which is why I was confused) once you add tickets to the room it is a package.

"The Magic your Way package is Disney’s terminology for any reservation that is not a Room Only reservation."

If you get a MYW package, you get the magical extras booklet and you pay a deposit of $200 with the rest due 30 days before your arrival. You can add on a rental car, dining plan, memory maker, etc and still just pay the $200 deposit at booking. So it is a nice way to have it all together under one confirmation number and see your total costs. You can get travel insurance on a package, which can be really helpful sometimes. Everyone has the same park tickets/ dining plan if you do a package.

If you book a room only and ticket bundle, you pay one night's rate + tax as the deposit on the room with the balance on the room due at check in, and you have to pay for the tickets in full when you order them.

So it depends when you want to pay, whether you want insurance or the dining plan etc., whether you mind keeping track of separate confirmation numbers on any you add on, and whether everyone sharing your room needs the same park ticket. You can use Disney's Magical Express either way.
