Magic Your Way vs. Park Hopper

Does anyone know if you can purchase a Magic Your Way pass and use multiple "days" in the same day?

For example, planning for a 4 day WDW stay:

$242 - 4 day hopper pass
$210 - 10 day MYW pass (1 park/day)

Could we "hop" by using the 10 day pass over the course of our 4 days. We may only do 1 park on one day, but could still do 3 parks for 3 days...

I am wondering if the ticket system would lock us out of visiting multiple parks based on dates even if we said, that's okay, use another day off my ticket. That way you could still hop between parks on a MYW pass.

Thanks for any thoughts :goodvibes

No. You can't. The base ticket is good for 10 days, one park one day. Think about it. Why would anyone buy the park hopper ticket if you could save lots of money and buy the 10 day ticket? If you want to go to multiple parks on one day, you MUST have the park hopper. Once you enter a park with the base ticket, you will not be allowed to enter another park on the same day.

Actually, I think you can do this. The penalty is that a "day" is taken off each time you enter a different park (without the park-hopping feature added to your tix). But if you're staying less than the amount of days your tickets are for, it might not be such a bad penalty for you.

But I've found that the park-hopping feature is not all that expensive to add.

No, you can NOT do this.

Disney's computer system blocks any non-hopping ticket from being used in more than one park per day. If you put your ticket into the MK gates in the morning, and try to put it into the Epcot gates in the afternoon, it will be rejected, even if you have lots more days available. It will not use another day of admission to let you in, it will simply say that you can't come in.

One day of ticket can be used per day, that's it.

I have no idea if this would work....would love to hear from someone who has done it. But if you can do that...WOW , nice savings for those who go to WDW for a few days. I think you are on to something!!!!

I can't see Disney Cast members turning you away from the gate at a second park, telling you "NO you already went to another park today!"..when you have these unused days on your ticket.

::yes::
The system is set up to disallow non-hoppers to be used as hoppers. It won't happen, and they will turn you away.

Well, I HOPE this can be done since I booked our trip Monday (added free dining Tuesday a.m.) and bought 9-day MYW passes for a 7 day trip. I asked the CM if, since we planned on visiting only one park per day, but MIGHT want to go back to Epcot or MK for a dinner on the same day we had been in another park, could we use the tickets that way.

She said "yes, but you will use up a day." To us that is no problem since we will buy more days than we plan to stay.

I certainly hope she is right and will be asking CMs when I call to make our ADRs during the next week.

She is wrong. This question comes up several times a week on the DIS boards and people have "tested" it.

You DEFINITELY will be turned away at the gate when you try to enter a second park that day with a non-hopper ticket. The gates are programmed to detect this.

Sorry, but you'll have to pay for the Hopper upgrade if you want to visit more than one park per day. Disney quite deliberately set up the system that way.

It definitely CANNOT be done.

from allearsnet.com FAQ on tickets:
Am I allowed to use two days off of my MYW Base ticket (non-hopping) if I decide I want to go to a second park on the same day as the first?

No you are not. The tickets are sold and the computer system is based on the number of days you have, not the number of park visits. Once you have used a non-park hopping ticket at any park, the computer system will not let you use it at another park on the same day.

Sorry, folks, Disney made sure this potential loophole didn't exist.

Nope. Won't work. The computers catch it and reject it.

The guards see it all the time so the first thing they usually ask is
Is it a hopper? Did you attend another park today?
Sorry. You can't use non-hoppers like that.

As a general rule, the CMs on the phone reservation lines know nothing about how the turnstyles work, and the CMs working the turnstyles know nothing about how the dining reservations system works.

The answer to your question, no you cannot use multiple days worth of admission on one day. If you want to visit multiple parks in the same day, you MUST have the park hopper option. (Unless one is a major park, and one is a water park, but that's an entirely different question). The turnstyle software will reject a non-hopper ticket that tries to enter another park. I used to work turnstyles, and still do from time to time.

Thanks everyone for the replies. You can't blame a girl for trying. :sunny:

I had a feeling the "system" would pick up the id and reset it at midnight... you've all confirmed that. I just figured after looking at the prices, gee, "What if..."

Sure, it's not a big jump in price, but $30 or so per ticket can add up to some nice extras. ;)

Thanks again! I knew someone out there would have the answer! ::yes::

This is one of the most popular questions on this board, and as previous posters have stated, the answer is No. No ifs ands or buts about it. :)

Oh well, I guess I was wrong. I would probably would have bought fewer days on MYW and just added hopping anyway.

Could someone let me know then how the 'upgrading' works? Say I buy 7 MYW base and use them for 3 days then decide I wish to upgrade to PH, do I pay for ALL 7 days or just the remaining 4?

I am asking because there is really only 1 day out of the 7 that we plan to go to more than one park.

Thanks for any clarification.

The park hopper option is a flat fee that applies to all the days of your ticket, so upgrading halfway through will not save you anything - you would pay the full price to upgrade your ticket to a hopper.

Yes they will. I saw it happen at EPCOT this past January. The couple who had tried it got really irate saying they still had six days on their tickets and didn't mind using another one for less than half a day at a second park, (they wanted to come in just for Illuminations). They also said they had been told by a CM when they bought their tickets that they would be allowed to do this. Of course the CM didn't buy it and they were turned away.

When we were going for 7 days we added the hopper but when we were going for only 4, we did not. 4 parks= 4 days. Yes we could do a park 1/2 a day and want 1 1/2 for another but we asked ourselves if it was worth 160 plus tax? No We could buy some souvies, ride a miceboat, take a carriage ride, or have a character breakfast  those are worth more than hopping!! That is to us...maybe not to someone else.

It's $40 flat no matter how many days the ticket is for or what day you upgrade. It would be nice to have a $10 that day only upgrade wouldn't it?
