Hi,

I'm sure I'm just looking somewhere but could someone answer this question for me?? I'm wondering if I purchase a 10 day park hopper and end up using only 7 days, can I purchase an upgrade to a non-expiring ticket for the last 3 days while I'm already at the parks?? Or do I have to purchase the non expiration at the time I'm buying the tickets?? Thanks!!

You can buy the upgrade within 14 days of first use.
You have to pay the entire price difference between your original ticket and a nonexpiring 10-day ticket. Looking at gate prices for 10-day PH passes, that's a difference of $144. ($410-$266)

So here's the deal. The extra 3 days on an expiring ticket cost you $6. To keep them past 14 days, you would have to pay almost $50 per day. I say let them go.

It would actually save you money to upgrade the remaining days to no expirations.

To add no expiration to a 10 day ticket is would be $135 plus tax per ticket.

If you were to "let those tickets go" you wuold have to pay full price for new tickets when you returned. Current price for a 3 day hopper ticket would be $221 plus tax per ticket (which is bound to go up in the coming years...so depending on how long you held onto the other tickets would determine the amount of savings that you gain).

So basically if you added no expiration to your tickets on this trip at $135 plus tax per ticket and returned next year with them (and the prices had not changed for new tickets) you would actually be saving about $86 per ticket, since you would not be paying for a new 3day hopper at $221 plus tax.

**edited to make more sense...My original post confused me after I re-read it :) Hope this makes more sense... It may seem like a lot $135 for the non expiration add on, but it saves you a lot in the long run.

Except that it's unlikely you'd be buying a 3-day ticket on your next trip. You may be buying another 7-day ticket, which costs less than $40 per day. I just don't see much return to this investment. Anyone who does is welcome to do it.

Ok I see your point now (wasn't really clear to me in the first post :) )... I guess the benefit depends on how many days you plan to use on the return trip. The scenario Erik has provided would make the non expiration upgrade in this situation a waste of money as a new 7 day ticket would cost $244 plus tax (current day price) which would be a savings over buying a 4 day ticket at $235 plus tax and having your 3 remaining days from the previous trip which you paid $135 plus tax for...

So if you plan to only use the remaining 3 days on your next trip, then it is a good deal, if you plan to use more than that, you are better off just letting them go and buying the longer ticket as Erik suggested...
