We will be going in Feb. to WDW. We do not go to parks every day and therefore the never expiring park hoppers have greatly benefitted us.

Tomorrow is the last day to purchase this type of ticket before the new "Magic Your Way" tix are beign sold.

My question is:Should I purchase PH today or wait and buy Magic passes.

I still have Park hoppers from several yrs ago, but I do need to add days. Same have 2 or 1 day others have 4 days.

I bought a park hopper plus ticket last week for my son. I priced out the tickets and found it to be cheaper. And quite honestly I was a bit overwhelmed with the ticket changes and decided to go with what I knew. In planning this trip on the heels of an early December trip (and having lots of things to do at home between trips, getting sick, etc) I just want to do the fun planning (restaurant PS's, etc) and not be bothered with things like tickets. Anyway, that's more information than what you really need.. :)

I bought my hopper tickets this week. Since I only needed a 4 day hopper (I have one day and 3 plus options left on another ticket) It turned out to be about $20 cheaper than the MYW tickets. I think the more days you buy the cheaper they are with the MYW...Happy New Year everyone!

I just ordered 7 day PHPs for next year's trip simply because each MYW ticket will now be coded by biometrics to one person - I have a hard enough time keeping track of how many days and pluses are on each ticket, I would hate having to keep track of who each ticket had to be used by, too. Besides, different family members go on different trips, come down for differing # of days, etc - so as long as I can just hand out a PHP to someone in the morning and know they can use the day, I will. For us, the 7 day PHP tickets offer the greatest savings - the last two trips we ended up not going into the parks on days when we had planned to - it's great to know we still have those days for future trips.
DQ is the only advantage I've seen as far as pricing goes (we are DVC so won't be using the packages/meal plans), and my big kids have all outgrown DQ and the grandkids are still way too young for it.

It looks to me like the MYW tickets are helpful for longer trips and for those who don't need the no expiration feature. If you don't go to the parks every day and can use unexpired days on a future trip, the park hoppers sound like the way to go.

....MapleLeafTickets.com just to compare the difference between a PHP 5-day ticket and a MYW 5-day with the same features. The PHP adult ticket was $266 and the MYW 5-day ticket was $299 (remember, you are getting an extra day[water parks,PI, etc.] with the MYW. So, it looks like I will be purchasing 5-day ??!?!

We are also going in February, I too have old passes so don't really need to purchase any. But I contemplated buying more PHP's anyway if it meant saving money in the long run. What I determined was that ticketmania.com was selling the 7-day PHP (4 pluses) for $320, and the MYW 7-day (premium w/no expiration) for $323, but the MYW includes 1 extra plus (5 total), and those pluses include Disney Quest (not so with the PHP's). So I'm gonna wait and slowly but surely purchase MYW passes as our budget allows. In your case, I guess it depends on how important the "pluses" are to you. Since the difference between a 5-day PHP and 5-day MYW is $33, that $33 is pretty much covering the 1 more plus it's giving you. Water parks are 33.02/26.63, DQ is 23.00/17.00 (advance purchase) and PI is 17.25 (advance purchase), do you need that "extra" plus? Good luck in deciding!! ~:p~

...you mentioned DQ is $23/$17. Is there a 'half-price' offer for those going to DQ after 4PM??

We have seen a sign at DQ where they offer a ticket reduction price after a set time. I don't recall the details, as we have PAPs.

I read on another message board that a family that was there stated that at 9:00 pm the tickets went on sale for half price (DQ was open until 11:30 that night). I've done a search, but can't find any other info on it. :worried:

I haven't been keeping up with the new tickets and I have not read up them but, will the PHP eventually be discontinued after they have all been sold? Just wondering...... :flower1:

...today is the LAST day they will be available for purchase!

hookedondizney,

With the new MYW tickets being released on 1/2, after Saturday you will no longer beable to buy the PHP or any other ticket for that matter other than the MYW and AP, PAP. Any tickets that you already have can still be used past 1/2, but only MYW ones can be purchased starting Sunday.

I just ordered 7 day PHPs for next year's trip simply because each MYW ticket will now be coded by biometrics to one person

We just returned and found out this is not entirely the case. Per a cm at MK guest relations (DH had to replace his AP and I asked about it then) they will have biometrics (it won't be called biometrics but rather something like ticket tagging) but it's not a one to one thing. When you first use your tickets they will be printed with your family name or group name. The first time you enter the park with a ticket it adds your finger scan to your group but everyone in your group will have their finger scan coded on that ticket. So when you put it in the machine it pulls up your group and then scans the group to look for your individual finger scan. So for instance if we took another trip just like this one when we entered the park the finger scans for myself, DH, DS and each of my parents would be coded on our tickets. If my parents only went to the parks 2 days and then gave us the remaining days it would be fine because all of our finger scans will be coded on that ticket. Make sense? So you can transfer tickets among family but not with others. I know that doesn't help people like DVC members who used to buy a couple of extra park hoppers to give to guests to use when they travel with them but it is a little better than an one to one thing!

Hope this helps!

"I just returned from our local Disney store, with 4 5-day PHP's in my hot 'lil hands!!"

I'm glad you were finally able to make a decision! ;)
