My DD wants to see this in October. It sounds like the first part is a video and then there is time to talk to some animators and then create your own Disney character. Can you just watch the video if you don't have enough time? Is the other part even worth staying around for? It sounds like they no longer actually have an animation dept at Disney Studios. Anyone see this recently and have any thoughts?

Yes you can just watch the video and then leave.

I have no interest in going anymore now that the animators are gone. It's a waste to me. Last time I went the animators had just left and you could still see everything sitting there inside the windows. It's a real shame.

You know, I watched Peter Pan and Cinderella last night with my wife and realized how much of a shame it is that current management is using less and less hand-drawn animation.

That's what I was afraid of. I hate not to go see it if DD really wants to - but hate to waste 30 minutes. Is the video worth seeing at least.

Honestly? No. It's not horrible by any means. But, the main focus of the attraction was the animators. When you'd go in to see the movie, all you wanted to do was get out to see the Animators.

What's really bad is, sometimes, people dont kwow much about the attraction so they go to see it, creating long lines. You may wait 30 minutes in line to see the video and then leave.

Unless you want to go do the "drawing" part of it, which I dont, then you likely won't get much enjoyment out of it.

we saw this last dec, and my children ages 11,9, and 5 year old twins liked it.
it had a video of the dragon from mulan explaining how animation
is done. it showed different cartoons and what exactly
goes into making an animated movie.
we did not wait on line for this and the theatre does hold a lot of people.
once you come out of the theatre there is a room with computers
and it lets the kids figure out what kind of disney character their personality is like, or to add color to different cells of animation etc.
we spent at least a half hour in this room.

it is disappointing that the animators are not there, but
if you are interested in animation this is worth
visiting while you are at mgm
