Magic? Not this time

check the universalorlando.com website occassionally for promos.
the last good one during earlier this year was stay for 3 nights and get a 4th night free. it also included tickets.

i found the bealls special on that site that ran for a couple of months.

i was able to buy the pap for $189 i believe that was the amount and that pap is good for 2 years.
that was a sweet deal. less than $100 per year for the ap and its discounts.

it was cheaper than the $85 ticket for 5 both park days.

if you scan thru the board of uo and ioa, you can usually find a thread that talks about the present promo that is going on.

that is the one thing many of us regulars here do. we go to those threads and help others out on the best and cheapest way to try UO.

also, if you ever stay on site and have issues, the general manager of that hotel will work with you to make you satisfied.

a couple of times i had issues and was upgraded from a standard room to the conceirge level at no additional charge. they want to keep the loews hotels at that 4.5 star level.

i know it appears that the UO hotels cost an arm and a leg, but when you factor in the fotl perks, you do come out ahead. if you are a family of 4, you could pay up to $200 for the express pass that can be used only once per ride/attraction. applying that $200 of express pass to your room costs, make the numbers more affordable. for example, if you want to stay on site and the cheapest room cost per night is $250, take away the $200 you would be paying for the express pass and that would appear your room would run you $50 a night.

or, you can stay on site for only one night and pay the $250 and use your room keys for fotl priviledges. once you check out the next day, you are allowed to use your room key that check out day until the park closes with the fotl perk. that is 2 days of fotl rights with only a one night stay on site.

right there that is another savings.

that is how i justify the cost i have to pay. i paid $149 a night in october the regular season rate.

like i posted before, the AAA card will get you a 15% discount. that is what i received while some others said they only received a 10% discount with aaa. maybe it was a fluke but i didn't complain.

came back to add more 411.
the express pass cost depends on the season/date you are in the parks.
i have seen it be as low as $20 per person and run up to $50 on the high time. so the figures i gave above were the high end ones.

i always buy the express pass plus when i attend hhn. i figure it like insurance. if i need it, i have it. for regular day park days, not hard ticket events, you do not have to buy the express pass before you go into the park.

if you are in the park and find it so crowded with long wait times for rides, you can purchase the e. p. at the guest services. only so many e.p. are sold per day though. if the park is full, they might have already sold out of the ep in advance. especially around holiday time.

You'd have to pay me to go back to Universal.
O rly?
I, for one, would not go to Disney unless I was getting in free. Then again, I rarely have to pay to get into any of the theme parks. :darth:

Sorry you didn't enjoy Disney. "Different strokes for different folks". We usually spend 2 days at IOA when we go to Forida and then spend the rest of our 2 weeks at Disney. IOA seems to much like Great Adventures to us. Not much theming and we have had better success at disney with the fast pass than any thing we've encountered at IOA.
Thanks for the trip report though, I always enjoy reading different views. Keep it coming

What is the bealls special? Is that a store in FL? Was it on UO's website? That's such an awesome deal! I would have jumped on it had I seen it! :sad2:

yes, i first heard about the bealls special on the UO & IOA threads.
the bealls store in florida had a deal if you bought something from their store and showed the receipt at UO, you could buy a one year PAP and receive the second year free.

then UO put it on their website. that is when i bought it.
a month after that, the promo changed that you had to be a floridian resident to use this promo.

i live in the chicago area but i bought into the deal on the UO site and it was honored.

that ap has already covered itself for me. got a great hotel discount, used it for merch and food discounts and discount on the hhn tix for 3 nights.
and i have only used it last month
the glitch was you had to have purchased it by sept 30 and activate it by dec 31. if you don't activate it by dec 31, it will do so automatically.

watch the website and you will find great deals at times. or check the threads to find out if someone posts of a great deal they heard of or have used.

sometimes i call universal orlando vacations and talk to the employee and ask what do they have for promos that are not advertised.

i did not have to make a purchase at bealls to get the promo 2 yr pap

Not much theming at IOA? :confused3 :confused3 :confused3 :confused3

IOA is very theme-immersive. When you walk into Seuss Landing, everything is colorful and Seussian. There are weird shapes, funky patterns, etc.
The Lost Continent has an ancient feel to it, a medieval feel in some parts, which is exactly what it's supposed to portray.
Jurassic Park has all the lush foliage that would be needed by the herbivores, plus there are TWO dinosaurs you can take your picture with.

I'll stop there.
