check the universalorlando.com website occassionally for promos.
the last good one during earlier this year was stay for 3 nights and get a 4th night free. it also included tickets.
i found the bealls special on that site that ran for a couple of months.
i was able to buy the pap for $189 i believe that was the amount and that pap is good for 2 years.
that was a sweet deal. less than $100 per year for the ap and its discounts.
it was cheaper than the $85 ticket for 5 both park days.
if you scan thru the board of uo and ioa, you can usually find a thread that talks about the present promo that is going on.
that is the one thing many of us regulars here do. we go to those threads and help others out on the best and cheapest way to try UO.
also, if you ever stay on site and have issues, the general manager of that hotel will work with you to make you satisfied.
a couple of times i had issues and was upgraded from a standard room to the conceirge level at no additional charge. they want to keep the loews hotels at that 4.5 star level.
i know it appears that the UO hotels cost an arm and a leg, but when you factor in the fotl perks, you do come out ahead. if you are a family of 4, you could pay up to $200 for the express pass that can be used only once per ride/attraction. applying that $200 of express pass to your room costs, make the numbers more affordable. for example, if you want to stay on site and the cheapest room cost per night is $250, take away the $200 you would be paying for the express pass and that would appear your room would run you $50 a night.
or, you can stay on site for only one night and pay the $250 and use your room keys for fotl priviledges. once you check out the next day, you are allowed to use your room key that check out day until the park closes with the fotl perk. that is 2 days of fotl rights with only a one night stay on site.
right there that is another savings.
that is how i justify the cost i have to pay. i paid $149 a night in october the regular season rate.
like i posted before, the AAA card will get you a 15% discount. that is what i received while some others said they only received a 10% discount with aaa. maybe it was a fluke but i didn't complain.
came back to add more 411.
the express pass cost depends on the season/date you are in the parks.
i have seen it be as low as $20 per person and run up to $50 on the high time. so the figures i gave above were the high end ones.
i always buy the express pass plus when i attend hhn. i figure it like insurance. if i need it, i have it. for regular day park days, not hard ticket events, you do not have to buy the express pass before you go into the park.
if you are in the park and find it so crowded with long wait times for rides, you can purchase the e. p. at the guest services. only so many e.p. are sold per day though. if the park is full, they might have already sold out of the ep in advance. especially around holiday time.
