We just got off the Magic on Sat. On Thurs during the captain's (We had Captain Thord) signing event, a couple of us asked him about the Magic going to Alaska. He said "Not this ship" and when pressed about the Wonder instead, he evaded teh question, but said that the 2009 destinations are still being firmed up and the Magic will NOT be in the Caribbean during summer 2008. He told us the details would be released in a couple of months.

When another DISer was rebooking, she told the rebooking agent what Captian Thord had told us and she confirmed it & said that now that he is talking about it, she doesn't have to keep quiet any longer. We didn't get any other details, so I guess we'll have to wait another couple of months to see where the Magic will be.

hmmmm....I originally wanted August 2008, 7 day caribbean. However, we are now booked April 2008 Eastern, and I won't be terribly disappointed if the Magic isn't in the caribbean in the summer of 2008, although I wouldn't have to take the kids out of school and am still open to rescheduling our cruise IF there are 7 day caribbean cruises.

Anyway, I think it's ridiculous though that they are keeping the Magic out of the caribbean 2 summers in a row, if the rumors are true! So many people are waiting for the summer 2008 dates to be released and so many of them are hoping caribbean cruises are part of the itinerary!

Exactly.

And if they do it again in 2009, that will really rankle some folks if there are no 7 night Caribbean itineraries for 3 summers in a row.

Now, it is possible that they are considering the following scenario:

Pull the Magic out of the Caribbean for summer '08 (maybe to go to Tokyo and celebrate TDL's 25th anniversary) and have the Wonder alternate 3/4 cruises with 7 night cruises like 4 night, 3 night, 7 night Western, 4 night, 3 night, 7 night Eastern.

Granted that doesn't give folks nearly the same amount of choices for 7 night Caribbean cruises, but at least there would be SOME to pick from versus none at all.

i still think they are going to do something special in 2008 but are waiting until most of us have paid on our med cruises before announcing it so we don't drop the med cruises and go for the new ones instead......

I can't see Tokyo.

I can't see them not having Carribean cruises 2 summers in a row.

I am hoping for some longer cruises and/or different ports in the Carribean.

It started in the Carribean, if they are celebrating their anniversary, wouldn't they want to celebrate there at CC.

still waiting...... :confused3

On the Wonder we heard a rumour that the Magic might be at Calafornia and Hawia ( yes i know spelt wrong!) for 2008.

Could this be true???

I thought that Disney Cruise will be at Ireland/England/Nova Scotia in 2008 rumors as you were mention about it??

Maybe could be in Southampton, Ireland, Nova Scotia???

Just wonder

I'm thinking the same thing! ;) The cruises would be that tempting to make a lot that have Med Cruises Cancel to do the 2008!

This is true information.....I'm the other DISer Choc_marg is referring to here. The CM told me exactly what the Captain told her....The Magic will not be in the Caribbean in 2008. I'm little bummed as well, as we were hoping for Aug 08. We rebooked for April, and we'll wait and see what they announce, and what the rates are like.....but anything too far away, and it'll be out of our price range, I'm sure.

I think DCL is having a hard time filling the boat, so looking for something to turn people on. Problem is it's way too expensive for them to leave normal sailings. I would have loved to sail the Med, but not for 5x's the price everyone else is charging. It's like there caught in a catch 22. Leave the ship where it is I could care less about what ports, I don't sail the Magic to see the ports. I think if they'd bring the price down a hair for a one or two month early booking bonus, they'd get better caoacity. They could fill the Med with a last minute deal to book for a limited time. I know a lot of people would be upset but I'm sure they could care less, :sad2:

I think they aremaking a mistake if they pull the Magic from the Caribbean 2 years in a row. Next year we are doing RCL and would not go to any of the places mentioned, so 2 years of another line and now you've lost a previously good customer.

Changing the stops would be great though, include some different islamds

I think it would be a mistake too, but trust me the ships will still sell the rooms. There are people out there who are addicted to Disney! It's crazy, huh? :)

Think they'll go back to CA?

So if they go some where else the summer...they will be back in october? Right? That means that it will be harder to book come time for the Magic to get back due to everyone wanting to book for an addiction cruise... LOL.. have to get that fix. HEHE

Hawaii would be great. :cheer2:

I agree that the Wonder may be doing alternating 3,4,7. Our plan is to double dip in 2008...if there are none we will save some $$ and do a 4 day. I just need to know by April when my Visa six months interest free is due! :surfweb:

We did basically the same. We booked a Feb. 2008 Western cruise. We originally wanted an August or October 2008. We got the midship Cat. 3 suite we wanted as well as the itinerary we wanted. If it looks like the Magic will be in the Caribbean for the summer of 2008, I may transfer the booking to a new date but if not at least I have the cruise I want at the early booking price.

Having the Wonder alternate different length cruises makes a lot of sense to me!

But they've never done that before when they've pulled the Magic for special cruises have they? I wonder why not?

I know lots of folks are waiting on summer '08 itineraries - me included.
I'm thinking I better start exploring other vacation options though so I have a back-up plan in case I'm not happy with whatever DCL has up it's sleeve.

I know the Med cruises were absolutely out of the question for us... for several reasons. So as much as we'd love to cruise DCL again, we're definitely not among the loyal who will book no matter what they come up with. (or how high they price it)

Ah well, guess we'll wait and watch with everyone else.

I am really disappointed to learn that the Magic will not be doing the Caribbean in 2008. We did the Western this past July and had our hearts set on the Eastern in 2008. This news DID NOT improve my mood this cold Monday morning! :sad1:

Assume that Magic will still be doing the caribbean cruises but just not during the high summer. Wonder if it is anything to do with the disruption during hurricane season.
Would be nice if it came to Europe again as am certain that once it has done this trip they would fill the ship up with no trouble the next year when the word gets out.

Would like to cruise to Hawaii but cannot believe that they would do this as it would mean 14 nights I understand from LA or San Diego. Would love to do this trip if they do so will wait and see.

Since all of the hurricane disruptions have been in September and October, and the Magic is always back to its Caribbean routes by then, I'd say no.
