Does WDW still do Magic Music Days? I'm just asking out of curiosity. I was lucky enough to travel to WDW twice in high school to take part in this, marching in the Electric Light Parade both times. One time, we found out the day we arrived that Disney needed some footage to air at the beginning of its televised Easter parade, so early one morning, before the park opened, our band, and some other high school band, spent about an hour marching up and down Main Street in MK, to the beat of piped-in music. Scores of Disney characters ran and danced among us. It was really cool. When the footage aried on TV, I could never spot myself, but you could see my sister's face clearly for a split-second.

Pardon my waxing nostalgic .....

I'm not sure if they still do this but I remember doing this in 1992. I was a junior in HS and it was my first trip to Disney, I am forever hooked because of it. We were in a parade around WS in Epcot and got to got backstage, it was the coolest experience, wish i would have truely appreciated it at the time.

Max!
Yes, they still offer Magic Music Days. I'm a high school band director and we are making our 3rd trip to Orlando to participate in MMD in March of '07! We will be marching prior to the SpectroMagic Parade in the MK on Sat. March 17th. In our previous trips, we have done both the evening and afternoon performances. I love the evening performance because you march from the front of the park to the back so you march up Main Street USA towards the Castle, which of course is all lit up, and your biggest crowd in on Main Street! What a magical moment! :thumbsup2

My son's band will be there for MMD in March/April 2007. My family will be traveling there to see them perform. It's pretty exciting! They will be performing in the afternoon parade.

Hey BandBob, glad to hear the plans are coming together :) Hope you all have a great trip in March. :earsboy: :cool1:

They still have it but it seems to be scaled back from what it was in the past. They don't seem to have as many school groups perform now.

My daughter's marching band is going in February of 07. They go every other year. My son went with the band is 03 and 05 and had so much fun. In 05 they also performed at Universal. I was never able to go when my son went, but I hope I can go to see my daughter marching through the MK!!

Our band went twice. I got to go the second time, I was not old enough for the first time. I'll never forget it! I still have my magical musical days t-shirt from back then.

My high school choir went twice. To tell the truth, it was the reason why I joined the choir in the first place! We didn't march but we got to sing on a small stage in EPCOT, I think somewhere near the imagination pavilion. We didn't draw too much of a crowd. I suppose a high school choir isn't all that exciting when you in WDW!

My son's band went this past March and they marched at 2:30 (first of three bands) prior to the Share a Dream Parade. They roped off the route and they marched down Main Street. It was neat. We went also and brought our other son as well we had a family vacation although the oldest son was with his band.

I also went as a High School Sophmore and marched it was an experience that I have never forgotten and probably part of why I love Disney now.

When you find out the date and time they'll perform, please post it here. We'll be going in April 2007, and I'm one of those who cries like a Mom when I see the high school bands march down Main Street. Although DS is no longer in marching band (just got his BS in music performance though), "Once a band parent, always a band parent."

They are performing on Sunday, April 1st in the afternoon. I can't wait to see my DS and my DNiece march down Main Street in the MK!! People can't believe that we are going down for that, we just got back from 2 1/2 weeks in Orlando (1 1/2 at WDW). I just tell them that my DS is not going to march at the MK without me being there to see it! We are going with my DB and DSIL and their family since my DNiece is also in the band. We are really looking forward to the trip. DB and his family haven't been to WDW in 6 years and they have 2 nieces living with them that have never been. It will be so much fun to experience it with them for the first time!!

If you will be there then, great! I will be the other Mom crying as they march down Main Street, I do that too!!

I have tried to find information on how to get your group entered. auditioned, however they choose and could never find any. My handbell choir loves to travel, we have been to europe, Costa Rica, and Australia. There are a few of us who would be in 7th heaven if we could play in WDW. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Thanks,
Minnesota

My show choir (only about 20 people) were invited to the Disney Magic Music Days at Disneyland when I was a junior in high school. We got to perform at the Carnation Cafe right next to the castle, and were also given the underground tour of the park and treated to a dance/voice class from Disney's actual performance coaches.. talk about a dream come true! :teeth: It's been 11 years since then, but it's still one of my favorite days of my life.

Last summer my DD danced on the stage at DTD, with her competitive dance company. After the performance the MMD organizer told our kids that they had the largest audience he had seen in 12 years of working on MMD.

It was a really amazing way of kicking off the trip for us.
