First trip to WDW in 7 more days! We are staying for 9 days with the first four days being Magic Morning Hours at each park we are going. Do you really have less crowds if you get there at park opening? Seems like a great benefit and if so many guests have access to this benefit it may not be a time saver like it is at Disneyland.

Does anyone know an approximate wait time estimate for a Toy Story FP at the time the park opens. I have heard horror stories where you can be waiting up to 20 minutes just to get a fastpass when the park opens. I would prefer to go to R&R Coaster then Tower of Terror then waste 20 minutes of early park time in a FastPass line (I know it's a great ride but I have ridden it many times in Disneyland and dont want to waste valuable time if not needed).

Thanks!

1- Very much so.

2- Many guests simply will NOT get up early on vacation.
That's one of the principle reasons AM EMH can be so great for those who
do make the effort.
If that park gets too busy later that morning, we
"Park hop" to another less busy park.

3- Zero to 40 minutes. It will BUILD as time goes by.

4- Yes, that can be true.

5- Those queues will remain relatively short for the first 60-90 minutes of the day.

6- The solution is to NOT get a FP before you ride, but grab one after your first ride.

7- No rule says that you must ride TSM first (or at all) if you're not inclined to do so.

At Disneyland, MM is a must, if you have access to it. You don't want to miss it.

At WDW, Extra Magic Hours are debated. Many touring plans say to go to the morning ones, IF you have a hopper, and IF you plan to hop to another park (with no EMH) once the EMH park starts filling up. We have yet to do any morning EMH, though we did partake in a late night MK EMH once, just to have the experience.

Toy Story, as you know, is a great ride. But the ride experience isn't any different between DHS and DCA, only the line experience. So if it's a choice between doing other things you really WANT to do (and the ride experience of TOT is indeed different at DHS vs DCA) vs waiting for what might be a long time to do something you've basically done before, if you have limited time at DHS, I'd say do the things you WANT to do.

But, and please know we've only been at lower-crowd times so far, I have never experienced a long wait for FPs at Toy Story. And I'm not allergic to standing in a standby line, IF I want to do a ride badly enough, or want to experience the line, etc.

YES! There are others who will disagree, but getting there for morning EMH has always worked well for us, but we arrive at least 30 minutes before the gates open. That is how our family likes to tour and we don't have a problem getting to the park early to knock off many attractions.

We typically walk right to TSM and get in the standby line with minimal wait. We will then go and get a FP for RNR and see what the standby is like for ToT. If its 20 or less, we get in line. Has always worked well for us and we go during peak times (mid Feb break, summer). That way we dont waste a FP on TSM but still get to ride it.

The other thing we do is see which park had Evening EMH the day before and go to that park the next morning, regular opening time. It is very draining to go to morning EMH day after day.

Thanks all for the great advice!

We are California people and have annual passes. My son is 13 and Toy Story is a "like to do" ride not a "must do". Since we will probably only goto WDW once in our life we want to hit all attractions at least once. We will hit Toy Story early and move on.

We are definately early risers ourselves. In fact, with Disneyland annual passes, we are usually in and out in 4 hours. I will take advantage of the MMH and play the Toy Story thing by ear. As long as I hit RNR and ToT early, my son will be happy! :)

Just a side note...I'm seeing MMs mentioned here and now DLR is calling early admission EMH for DL/DCA. I'm about to start playing banjo on my lips.

Robo, gotta mapo for the nearest funny farm for me? ;)

Do keep in mind the time difference - coming from California is going to make hitting those EMH mornings hard. And if you are not at the park opening for EMH, you're better off going to a non-EMH park.

Thanks Amy... a relative of mine is a "sleep specialist" and we are currently in the process of adjusting our body to the Eastern time zone. Well, I hope that is what is gonna happen. If not, me going to bed at 8pm for the rest of the week really stinks! :)

Robo, as always, is right on.

We think WDW EMH is a HUGE perk and we get lots done in the first hour or two in the park when taking advantage of it. You just have to be willing (in addition to getting up early) to criss-cross the park to make it work.

Most of the crowd will go to TSM. So you have two options: go there, grab an FP or ride (or both, depending on the lines) OR go to RnR/TOT section and ride there.

Robo is correct: RnR and Tot lines will be relatively short for the first hour....so you can probably walk on there even if you do TSM first.

So...the question becomes: which would you like to do more than once? Which one would you really be sad to miss multiple times? Head to that ride first, grab an fb and then ride it.

If TSM is important, grap that FP and then ride Tot/Rnr.

Does that make any sense?? :)

But yes...oh yes...am EMH is something to use FOR SURE. And this is from someone who generally uses it during Christmas week...the most crowded time all year.

Park Hopper are key too. We'll go to MK (or any other park) for am EMH...be done with our headliners by 11am...and hop out to lunch, pool, rest, and on to dinner somewhere else.

:thumbsup2

Isn't that interesting on the disneyland website, wow.

But it really should be called EMH. MM just confused everyone, since TTMM is a "thing" there (ToonTown Morning Madness) and even in real life I've seen drastically confused people thinking they were doing one thing instead of the other, because the acronym was too close.

Although, what was so wrong with EE (early entry)?
