Magic Kingdom - What a Mess!

Yesterday I got the result from my most recent CT scan. After 2 1/2 years, two major surgeries, radiation therapy and chemo therapy I am cancer free. When I am at Disney in August if the Main Street scrim is still up the first thing I'm going to do I'm going walk up and give it a big kiss. Believe me, an obstruced view is a minor inconvieniece solved by taking a few steps to the left.

Congratulations on being cancer free! I wish you the most magical trip. pixiedust:

This post saddens me.

Me too :thumbsup2. When you look for the worse, imperfections, or whatever, that's ALL you'll see:sad2: Those things didn't make a dent in my feelings on our last trip - complete enjoyment. The sad part is that this way of looking at life affects others close to you, especially your children, family :sad1:

I cannot think of a more appropriate post for what we have been talking about. Congratulations on being cancer free. I truly hope that you get to see those awful scrims for many years to come. :)

Probably the best post I have ever read on this site - congratulations! :lovestruc

That is awesome!!! :goodvibes Glad all is well!

This should really put things in perspective for some people who get upset over a scrim or a wall.

:offtopic:I'm starting to get the very distinct feeling that about 90% of the people posting on DIS Boards these days are either Universal Employee's or people that just cannot be forced into happiness or have the ability to enjoy anything that isn't perfect. Must be a tough life, cause I have yet to find anything perfect about life. I have found it to be so much more enjoyable and easy by realizing that and looking for the good things. I cannot speak for anyone else, but I personally believe that life is too short to always have my glass half empty.

You are wrong on all accounts in my case. We work hard and value a dollar. Most businesses wouldn't survive, much less flourish, while raising prices and offering less. Especially with the attitude, like it or lump it. But, some will defend, apologize and pay through the nose, no matter what, as long as the Disney brand is attached.

I didn't think that was what this thread was about. I thought it was people being uspet about construction. Which is Disney actually trying to offer people more. And yet, see how they still can't win?

Congratulations. Perspective is everything, isn't it? Well, perspective and good health.

Well done. News like your's makes my day.

So, i'm not allowed to respond to posts in this thread? :confused3

It seemed like you were posting about a totally different subject than what was being discussed. :confused3 That is all I was saying.
Well, I did respond to a post, that was "off topic". I merely stated, why i feel, the "mess" is unacceptable.::yes::

For the record, I don't work for Universal Studios, my life doesn't have to be perfect, and I don't think, anyone can be FORCED into happiness.

But this "mess" has been known for a while. Why schedule your vacation during this time if it is such a big deal? :confused3

Sometimes I think Disney can not win. People will be upset no matter what the do (or don't do). I would MUCH rather have construction going on and things being updates, expanded, and fixed then deal with messes, breakdowns, and no new things.

Well said :thumbsup2

I think less of the concern is about the FL expansion (which is relegated to one corner of the park, and doesn't really affect anything currently open) and more about other various things that are closed and/or being refurbed. At least, that's the impression that I get from it. Admittedly, I haven't gone back to reread and I very well may have forgotten :p

One of the advantages of attending during the busiest of times is that ride refurbishment is the least. But the new construction, like at Fantasyland, can't ever be completely hidden. I don't think it spoils the magic.

We booked portions of our vacations, well over 18 months ago. We have non refundable cruise deposits and airfare, plus DVC to contend with..

So we are back again to the sticking point: People complain when Disney does no work on the parks. And people complain when Disney does work on the parks. What exactly are they supposed to do to make everyone happy?
