I've been informed Magic Kingdom Watercraft boats are getting GPS capabilities! This will significantly help the coordinators manage the operation.
BUT where I think they are going to do (and I will note this is PURE speculation on my part) is ultimately create the ability to display wait times to the next boat on the dock. This could be easily accomplished using zones which start a countdown, then adjust the count down as the boat moves through the zones. This information could also be sent to the new My Disney Experience app.
The boats are also doing a 1 week observation where all pilots will be recording data about guest flow and dock times to see if any adjustments need to be made to the operation. Interesting!
