Magic Kingdom To Grand Floridian Floating Bridge

Are you sure those aren't just ramps for the Fonzie Shark Jump, part of a new attraction "Happy Days, the Experience" Remember Happy Days was an ABC show ;)

It would be a good metaphor, since so many people here on the DIS - based on all the complaints, particulalry about FP+ - seem to think WDW, as a whole, has "jumped the shark".

Actually, they look more like large diameter PVC water pipes! That's the exact color of those and it looked to be about 12" in diameter which is a very standard size for water mains. It's awful larks for natural gas mains except for those used in transmission situations which certainly wouldn't be in this area.

yep- a 12inch epoxy stell line is not for just connecting your barbecue grill- it's sizable gas line for significant volumes.

Could for sure be water or waste water lines. I havne't gotten around to looking carefully to check.

Here ya go.
These are facing WEST.

Actually the more I look at this, I can guarantee folks will cut through here-even if they don't intend you to, unless they purposely make it impassable.

Might be room if they really want to make it happen.

Indeed, but the current loop around Poly/GF is too short and disjointed. I made up for it on my most recent trip with a few laps around the T&TC lots ... none of the CMs there seemed to mind

I'm going to try and take a picture while I'm here if I can make it back on the monorail....but while riding over from GF to MK, I had a great view looking straight down at the construction of the bridge. There were about 10 workers at the time and they were currently painting (or maybe applying a seal of some kind?) PVC pipes. I believe the pipes are visible in the pic in the first post. Looking at it from the air, seeing where the path to MK ends at the park bench....really provided a great view of what's possible there.

DH and I have had this discussion. If there were a walkway AND we were staying at either GF or Poly, no WAY would we walk. We'd take the launch. In fact, we'd take the launch OVER the monorail. That walk is too far. The walk from MK to CR is perfect. I get the appeal of the walkway though. It would be highly impractical for Poly guests though.

Really???? I think walking from the Poly to the GF takes maybe 5 minutes, tops. And the walkway from GF to MK would be maybe 7-10 minutes. I am all for the walkway. It would connect everything around the Seven Seas Lagoon. I would way rather walk then take a monorail full of sweaty, worn out, park goers.

From GCH to GF main building front door, measured by walkers GPS, 15 minutes. With the new DVC it's now a couple of minutes longer since the walkway is no longer a straight run.

Maybe they will have done by xmas, if so Ill take an adventure to GF and try this new bridge, it never looked like a bad walk , looks alot shorter than BC to HS , now theres a walk but even still do not mind

There's certainly times when i think we'd take advantage of a walk way. We regularly walk from Board walk to Epcot or HS (and when not in a rush we will even walk to Epcot's back entrance then all the way to the monorail to get to the magic kindgom).

There's other times when we'll deal with whatever not to walk another step- but options are nice.

I was so happy to see those pictures! We are staying at the GF on Friday and I was planning to run a loop to MK and around but I couldn't remember if it went through or not. I didn't think it did, but then I remember getting from MK to GF during the half marathon. I guess we were in the back stage area at that time. I would love to be able to run a loop and I'm sure there are many other runners staying at the Monorail resorts that would love it too!

Bill on another thread he heard it was just stored there for MK boat ramps. Hoping they still build one though.

Those green tubes are for a new permanent ferry doc at the MK scheduled to be operational mid Jan 2014.

The ramps are probably for the new dock. We were told last week that they are ramps and looking at them close up, they would fit the ferry opening.

that's a record setting walking pace...

for a terrapin:banana:

8 minutes flat or less...the key to walking is:
a. maintain good physical fitness
b. eat a healthy balanced diet
c. continually move both feet in an alternating pattern until you run nose first into your destination while daydreaming

ok...so a little exaggeration...but its not far at all.
the longest "segment" around the showcase would be a path from the poly/ttc over to the contemp...and that is not a huge distance either.

hopefully they will one day link them all up..."just cause"...if for no other reason.
