Sign Up Jan 1 2009 http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2044780 -- for elements
due date March 5, 2009

Warning! I am trying something new with this swap, both in the requirements and in the sign ups. If you are interested in either of these swaps, please read through this thread. I'd appreciate your questions now so we can iron out any problems before sign ups start.

Sign Ups Open for ELEMENTS:
8:00 AM EST for your first 3 groups,
12:00 AM for your next 3 groups,
4pm for your next 3 groups.
8pm I'll start closing it out if possible
.

Number of groups is limited to a total of 9 unless I need help filling in spots.
At 8:00pm I’ll start filling in, but I don’t plan on opening new groups, just filling in. If you want additional spots, see what is open 8:00.

Here is the why – the last few swaps I hosted were done on a first come, first served basis. No group limit. Here is what happens -- I sign up, AWM signs up, NEE signs up, missesdisney signs up -- we are now all in the same groups over and over again. While I love their work, I also love the work of NemoMom, Nancy, DisneyIsTerrific, rlovew and so on who signed up later in the day. Variety is a good thing. I have learned many new techniques from the work I received from different swappers. By limiting you to 3 groups at a time, I think this will spread out the swappers over the groups. It’s possible that it doesn’t work out that way but I’d like to give it a try.

If you are unavailable you will need to find a buddy (other than me) to sign you up. If you are new and can’t find a buddy, send me a pm and I will find you a sign up buddy.

CHECK-IN, ANGEL, PACKAGING & MAILING INFO (mostly lifted from Hopemax...Thanks!)

If I am worried that you will not be able to finish by the the deadline, I will contact you to see if we need to angel some, or all of your groups. If at any time, you realize you need to cut down on the number of groups, or need an angel for all your groups PLEASE LET ME KNOW AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. I know it’s hard to admit when we are in over our heads, and it’s more fun to receive all the pretty pieces, but there will always be more swaps.

Check In:
January 8 -- verify your groups and PM me with your name, DISname, address, email and phone number (last resort if I can’t contact you by other means). I will pm my info after sign ups close.
January 22
February 12th
February 26rd .
If you miss a check-in, I will PM/email you. If I do not hear from you 48 hours after that, your spots will be angeled. If you are going to be away for a check-in, let me know. For the February 26th check-in, please be specific with your progress, and list the groups you still need to finish and an anticipated mailing date (If you have not mailed already). I want to have a good sense that you will be able to accomplish your groups on time, or if we are going to need angels.

Packaging for elements: Place your completed elements in a Ziploc with your DISname, name and group letter. Take all of your baggies for a group and place them in GALLON size bag, and label with the same. Please use the gallon bag -- your items may fit in a smaller bag, but the items you receive back might be not.

Packaging for pages: Place all 4 pages in one 2 gallon bag with your name, DISname and group number. Please label the back of your page with your name and DISname.

Postage: Here are the prices for Flat Rate Priority Mail Shipping. Envelope - $4.95, Small Box - $4.95 (this is a new item for 2009), Standard box – $10.35, Large - $13.95. You may send to me, by any method you choose, but I would prefer to send to you using flat rate boxes/envelopes. However, if you want me to send by a different method, we can work that out. I won’t require Delivery Confirmation, UNLESS you are sending to me AFTER the swap due date. If you want your items shipped to you with DC, please include the $.65, and a filled out slip. If you are in the both the pages & elements swaps too, I will send everything back in one box, so make sure you send enough to cover postage for both swaps.

DO NOT include clik-it/ship-it postage. I will not be able to use it since it is only good on the day it was printed, and from the location it was printed.

Due Date: This swap is due MARCH 5, 2009. Your package should be in the mail by February 27. I intend to only wait one week for packages that have been delayed by our lovely postal system, before I swap out. If you mail, March 1 or later, you must send Priority and you must include DC so I can verify the shipment and keep tabs on its status. I know emergencies can happen, and those will be handled on a case by case basis.

I'll start from the top of the list and get you in 3 groups. SO you will be in Grp O, Grp P and whichever of the others is open. You'll need to give me a new list when the next window opens. I will open new groups as they fill.

Here is a slideshow with some examples of titles. A lot of it is my stuff since that is what I have easy access to. The first page had a topper, but also a title box.

Makes sense to me. Luckily I'm off New Year's Day and DH is working, so this will give me something to structure my day around! Now I have a good couple weeks to obsess over what I will join.

Sounds good to me.

I can be a posting buddy if someone needs one.

Looks good to me- I have lots of stuff for Mk so this will give me time to go through and see if I need anything- I will not sign up for ggroups I don't need at least 3 of the areas of- some of these things I have 5-6 copies of from groups in the past.

I like the idea of a limit for time periods so we can spread out the sign-ups to have a variety of people in each group.

Rebecca

This looks great! I'm off New Year's Day, too, so I'll get DH to watch DS during the times! ;)

Sounds wonderful!!! Now I cant wait for Christmas to be over and get to this.:rotfl: But I will definatly need a sign-up buddy since I dont think i will be able to get here at 5am my time. Now that would be crazy to set an alarm right? :rolleyes1

One question:

Requirements: one 12x12 page

Title: topper, letter, borders, block or tag, letters on squares or other shapes

Can the topper be any shape or size. or does it have to be the 8x2? and can it be anywhere on the page as long as the rest of the page fits the requirments?

AND

Option 1: 2 mats for 4x6 photos, 1 element or several small embellies, a place for journaling visable or hidden

Option 2: 1 mat for 4x6 photo and 2 or 3????? places for smaller photos, 1 element or several small embellies, place to journal

Oops another one: Several Small Embellies. Are we just using our best judgement here? I am a simple scrapper. So i dont use too may embelishments per-say I like my pics to stand out.

Can I post a few of my LO's that i did for swaps? Since i havent scrapped anything for myself in so long :confused3 And you can let me know if I'm on the right track? Maybe? I am sure I have to step it up a notch or two.

Thanks! I am so excited. Being snowed in isnt bothering me so much.

The 8x2 is just a guideline. Because we can make "titles", you are free to make any shape or size- as long as it looks nice. ;)
Posting a layout or two would be nice. I like to look at them. :)

AWM! Thanks! I like playing with titles.

ok heres an example:

I'm glad to see that there is interest and that what I wrote is comprehensible! I have never been a fan of New Year's so this gives me something to do!

JohnsonsLoveDisney -- I'd love to see some examples. The prototype thread for the Weird everyday pages swap is a good resource for some examples. In that swap 2 4x6 mats was a requirement. In this one I am trying that as well as the option of one mat and a few smaller mats. I guess I'll have to get that defined.

AWM! Thanks! I like playing with titles.

All you would need to add is some journaling. You could make a tag to hid under the mat [between mat & background] or have one of the mats flip up.

Are the letters attached so that you can slide the photo under them? If not, they would need to be for this swap. Pop dotting them on the outside edges would take care of that.

This one had no rules, so i just went for it. The mats are only attached 1/2 down the sides and on the bottom of the rectangle. so you can slide the photos under through the top. Then secure it down if you wanted.

I think if i had planned it differently and didnt put the bubbles directly on the backround a tag could have been hidden behind the cauldron.

That is a great page! Yes to what AWM said. Your mats are a good example for the elements too. If you were in an element group, those mats would count as your title.

Thanks! I'm still getting to know everyone over here and they're expectations! So for me rules are great. :thumbsup2

I'll just ask a zillion questions until ya'll are tired of me. :rotfl:

We are all happy to answer questions- most of us were new here at some time or another. In fact many of those who started the swapping in older swaps I have never been on the boards with.

So Susan, are you the other family in South Jersey/Philly area who does not watch the mummers??:lmao: (We don't either!)

I'll need a buddy. We are driving to Niagra Falls that day to pick up a puppy (we are staying overnight New Years Night and coming home the next day).

I think this idea is great. I agree that this may vary up the swappers a bit and it sounds like such a great swap!
I'll also need a buddy because on New Year's Day, I will be in the newborn nursery at the hospital, looking after the New Year's babies (aka, I will be working!).

I really like how you've set this up. It's a great idea and I may follow your example when I do the character swap sign-ups. I need to go look at the groups you have listed here and see which ones I need to be in!!!

I can be a swap sign-up buddy on the 1st. We don't leave for WDW until the 2nd!

Does anyone know about any changes to MK for the new theme -- the bday celebration thing? Is there anything I need to change because of it?

Thanks AWM and Disneyisterrific for offering to be sign up buddies.

There is a new show starting in the spring in tomorrowland- I don't know the name of it. I am not sure about anything else other than I think the decor is supposed to be lots of bright colored balloons.
