Magic Kingdom Swap---final Details

We have two groups!!!! That is so exciting to have so many participating, especially new swappers! Here are the details:

***** Deadline to return: February 28

*****Packaging: Make individual packets of your swap items for each person--you will have 15. Wrap swap items in a baggie or plastic wrap. Place all the baggies/plastic wrapped bundles inside another large baggie, then place this in the priority mail flat rate envelope. You will probably have to angle the borders in the envelope. I find plastic wrap sometimes works better for borders than a baggie (gets too bulky when put in envelope.)

Please include your name, address, and group number on a piece of paper and place in the large baggie.

Write your real name, DIS name, and swap group number on a piece of paper and include in each individual's baggie or put on a label on the outside of each idividual package. Then we will know who made the items and can ask questions about materials and techniques if we want to .

*****Return: Send a priority mail stamp or $4.05 to cover the costs of mailing your package back to you.

If everyone has their packages in the mail to me by February 22 at the latest, they should arrive in plenty of time. I would like to have these mailed out by March 7 or 8, before we leave on spring break vacation. If I receive all the packages earlier, I will send them out earlier. I will start a mailing thread later.

*****I will pm everyone with my name and address sometime next week. If you need it before them, pm me.

*****If you have something come up and are not going to be able to finish, let me know so we can find an angel if needed. If your package will be late, again let me know. Things happen--as we all know (my example--being down and out with laryngitis the last 3 weeks, not what I had planned on!)

*****If there are any questions, please pm me or post them here and I will get back to you as quickly as I can, or another swapper may be able to answer your question.

*****Reminder: Each swapper will make 15 of each element that they sign up for and receive a complete set of the seven lands and magic kingdom items.

*****Swap items:
**two borders (11 in), double matted and embellished
**title topper (Max 8 in), double matted and embellished
**two photo mats, embellished, ususually double matted
**two photo frames, embellished, usually doubled
(there are many ways to do photo mats and photo frames--look at disneyland emily's swap photos for examples)
**library pocket and tag--tag should be double matted with eyelet and/or fiber in holes
**2 embellished tags--sizes/shapes of your choosing, include fiber and/or eyelet in tags
**4 decorated/embellished squares
**journal box, double matted and embellish, at least 2x2 writing area
**two slide mounts
**shaker box
**mini file folder, embellished

There was a question if journal boxes could have lined paper--yes. Usually has at least a 2 x 2 writing area, some have bigger writing areas. They can be in a variety of shapes. Another question as to whether borders, photo mats, and frames had to be identical--no. Many swappers use coordinating colors or for frames/mats will do them in reverse. Look at disneyland emily's swap albums for ideas.

1. If there is a ?????, I need to know your second item. If you did not choose between 2 photo mats or 2 frames, please pick OR you can do one of each--let me know. If you didn't choose between borders or frame, let me know which you want.

I have made 12 of my library pockets. I need to make a few more. Now here is a dumb question. What does a scrapbooker do with a library pocket. I am going to my LSS tonight to get help on the topper and tag.

If you put a tag in the Libary Pocket, it's used for journaling or adding another small photo. In the swaps I have been in, the Libary pockets come with tags with fiber in them so you can pull them out of the pocket.

Forgive me if this is a stupid question but how do you pull it out with the page in a page protector? Or do you just pull the page out and look at it that way?

You could pull the whole page out or just cut a slit in the page protector slightly larger than the size of the tag and let the fibers hang out, kind of like pull tab on a kids book. You can also cut a 3 sided window out for the mini file folders if you put pictures in them and want to open it or you can do the slit if you put a tag in it.

Just imagine they are straight lines.
You can adhere the page protector to the outside of the flap with vellum tape to hold it all together.

I hope this makes sense. Sometimes it just sounds so much better in my head.

Yes, you can just send in 14 and keep yours at home. Just stick a note in to remind me. I'm not sure about postage--maybe convert the amount you send to me?? I'll have to think about that, but don't worry, we will work it out!

3 1/2 by 5 would work great!


For the library tags, you can also pull them part way out of the pocket before attaching. Anyone have a layout with an example?

That would be the bottom measurement of everything, mats included. We try to make them so they will work in 8 1/2 by 11 or 12 x 12 books.

I've got my mini file folders done. They turned out sooooo cool!! I will start cutting the elements for my borders this week.

I know the borders need to be 11 inches tall, but how wide should they be? I was thinking 2 inches wide including the mats.
